Mark Twain: An American Life, 1835-1910
Thursday, April 27, 6:30pm
Mark Twain is one of the most well know American authors. Celebrate his life with song and word performed by entertainer Judy Cook. Judy, in period costume, will share excerpts from Twain's writings as well as photos and songs from his lifetime. The spoken word, images, and music combine to provide fascinating insights into Mark Twain: his life, and the America he lived in. This event is entertaining and educational for the entire family!

What is the scientific basis of weather forecasting which allowed Admiral Fitzroy to found the first organized weather service? How has weather forecasting changed since the 19th Century? What are the special challenges of forecasting in the Upper Midwest of the United States? This talk will cover these topics and more. 

About Paul: Paul Roebber is a Distinguished Professor of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.  Professor Roebber is the founder and Director of the Innovative Weather program at UW - Milwaukee, a weather decision support service that provides forecasts for community clients ranging from the Lake Express Ferry to the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District to the Milwaukee Brewers.

You don't need to be a good artist (or an artist at all) to make your own bad art. We'll put out a bunch of painting and craft supplies. Choose what inspires you to create something; it doesn't have to be good. This is your opportunity to try your hand at painting.

Pet Rocks are back! (Did they really ever go away?) Come to this program and create your very own pet rock. You'll even get to create a customized home for your new pet. This program will take place in our upstairs program room.
Smart Cookie Club: Maps

DIY Fairy Homes

Grades 1-5
Even fairies need roofs over their heads. Make a home for these delicate creatures using twitgs, flowers, pebbles and other natural building materials. This will take place in our storytime room. 
Kendama-A-Rama

What's Kendama? It's a traditional Japanese cup and ball game, and it's all the rage. See a demo by members of the Whitefish Bay High School Kendama Club, learn a trick or two, and show off your skills! Bring your own Kendama. We'll also have a few to share.

Join us for our monthly teen drop-in after school program. We'll be doing some blackout poetry. This program may be held in the Storytime Room or Teen Area.
Protect Your Peeps

It's Peep vs Peep in our team challenge. Build fortresses and shelters for your peeps while trying to destroy the other teams' with marshmallow catapults. All materials will be provided and teams will be formed at the program.
