Circus
in the Park featuring The Midnight Circus
The
Midnight Circus is a whimsical assortment of acrobats, aerialists,
clowns, contortionists and a dog providing delightful entertainment
to all ages in an open air city park setting. Please join the magic
and merriment while supporting your local park. The traveling
circus will be appearing at Holstein Park (2200 N. Oakley) on
Saturday September 25 at 2pm and 5pm and Sunday September 26 at 1pm

Humboldt Park History
On
Wednesday, September 29 at 6pm please join your neighbors for a
FREE evening lecture at the Humboldt Park Boathouse (1359 N.
Sacramento). Julia S. Bachrach, Chicago Park District Historian and
Edward Torrez, AIA, Principal at BauerLatoza Studio will present
two educational lectures entitled, "Humboldt Park: Jens Jensen's
Living Laboratory" and "The Boathouse: Then and Now" sponsored by

Evening in Wicker Park: Make Believe Tour + First
Fridays
Join
us for a special guided walking tour of the Make Believe art in
vacant storefronts installations on Friday October 1. The group
will meet at 1266 N Milwaukee at 7pm and take a guided tour of the
Make Believe art installations. During the tour, participants will
meet the artists and learn about their work. The tour ends at the
Flat Iron Artist's First Friday celebration where you can join in
the art + fashion fun of First Fridays at 8pm, then stay for the
Happy Dog Gallery performance exhibit entitled "Bicycles and the

Harvest 2010
Come
check out Chicago's 1st annual street festival celebrating the
home. This FREE fall festival will have over 50 design-themed

Bucktown
5K Run
On
Sunday October 3, join other Chicago area runners for the annual
Bucktown 5K race, a fully paved route that meanders through the
leafy streets of Bucktown. Runners are to begin at 1621 N.
Marshfield at 8:30am. A map of the course and race entry details
can be found here, the race entry fee is $40. Note that NO
parking will be allowed on the course starting October 3rd at 4am. Check

annual Bucktown Apple Pie Contest will be coming to Holstein Park

Shred-A-Thon
Save
the date for Alderman Moreno's Shred-A-Thon on October 12

5-8pm
at 2058 N. Western Avenue. At this event, you will be able to shred
and recycle your old papers in a mobile shredding
truck.
CAPS Meetings
Residents in the Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods that are
concerned about crime should plan to attend an upcoming CAPS
meeting. Wicker Park and Bucktown are located within the 13th and
14th Districts, and there are eight beats that cover the
neighborhood. Below is the list of all eight beats and the date and
location of each CAPS meeting. All meetings are from 7-8pm unless
otherwise noted:
Beat 1312 meets on the
second Tuesday of every month at St Helen's Church, 2301 W. Augusta
in the basement.
Beat 1322 meets on the
first Wednesday of every month at the 13th District, 937 N.
Wood.
Beat 1323 meets on the
third Wednesday of every month at the Northwest Settlement House,
1012 N. Noble, 2nd Floor.
Beat 1424 meets the
second Wednesday of every month at the Wicker Park Fieldhouse, 1425
N. Damen.
Beat 1431 meets the
first Thursday of every odd-numbered month at the 14th District,
2150 N. California.
Beat 1432 meets the
third Thursday of every month at Holstein Park, 2200 N.
