APPLES
QUALITY: GOOD
SUPPLY: MODERATE

Red Delicious (peaking 80/88ct) continue to struggle to meet high demand. New crop should start shortly bringing some relief to the market. New crop Granny Smiths (peaking 72-88ct), Golden Delicious (peaking 100/113ct) and Galas (peaking 113-138ct) are now available, though volumes are light out of Washington. Fujis (peaking 80/88/100ct) remain limited. Honeycrisps (peaking 64-100ct) are steady. Quality of all varieties remains good. 

ASPARAGUS
QUALITY: FAIR SUPPLY: SHORT

Market is active due to Hurricane Irma having heavily impacted the Peruvian supply chain. Meanwhile, Mexico is in transition and recovery from their recent storm. 

AVOCADOS QUALITY: GOOD SUPPLY: SHORT

Market is extremely active as volumes out of Mexico have reached historically low levels due to recent weather conditions; supplies not expected to increase for the next two to three weeks. Low maturity has delayed the new crop which is now expected to begin October.

BERRIES
QUALITY: POOR SUPPLY: SHORT

Extreme temperatures and rains have significantly hampered production, cutting projections by as much as 50%. Decay and bruising are prevalent among strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and raspberries. Additionally, all varieties are displaying weak texture adding to an already diminished shelf life. 

BROCCOLI
QUALITY: POOR SUPPLY: SHORT
The market is extremely active due to extreme temperatures and rains. Industry will be facing shortages for the next one to two weeks. Quality has declined with brown bead, pin rot, hollow-core and decay being reported.

CARROTS
QUALITY: GOOD SUPPLY: MODERATE

Market is somewhat active as shippers continue to struggle in achieving jumbo sizing.


CAULIFLOWER
QUALITY: FAIR SUPPLY: MODERATE

Market is gaining strength due to extreme temperatures having impacted quality and supply. Quality is fair to good with discoloration and sizing issues being the most commonly reported quality concerns.


CELERY
QUALITY: FAIR SUPPLY: MODERATE

Market is fairly steady, but quality remains a concern. Inconsistent sizing, discoloration and sunburn are among the most commonly reported defects.


CUCUMBERS
QUALITY: FAIR SUPPLY: SHORT

Market is active due to heat, bloom drop and rains. Quality is fair to good. New crop is expected to begin this week; should see relief by the end of next week.

EGGPLANT
QUALITY: GOOD SUPPLY: SHORT

Supplies are improving, but demand continues to exceed post-hurricane supply. Quality is good overall.

GRAPES
QUALITY: GOOD SUPPLY: MODERATE

Market is steady with consistent production and good quality. 


LETTUCE
QUALITY: FAIR SUPPLY: MODERATE

Heat has caused market to gain strength. Availability of Iceberg declined along with quality. Most common defects include pinking, puffy heads, weak tip and burn. Green and Red Leaf supplies are also tight with quality being affected by sunburn, insect damage, seeder and sunburn. Romaine quality concerns include ribbiness, twisting, insect damage and seeder.

LEMONS
QUALITY: GOOD SUPPLY: SHORT

Market extremely active as demand exceeds supplies of 140ct and larger. The desert harvest has begun and should provide relief within the next two to three weeks.

LIMES
QUALITY: FAIR SUPPLY: MODERATE

Market is gaining strength as quality declines.. Reports of styler have become more frequent due to heavy rain fall. 


MELONS
QUALITY: GOOD SUPPLY: MODERATE

Honeydew and Cantaloupe markets are steady, as CA wraps up for the season. AZ will begin in October. Watermelon supplies are steady with good coloring and brix being seen.


ONIONS
QUALITY: GOOD SUPPLY: MODERATE

Market is steady with WA and ID beginning their new crop. Yellow and Super Colossals are expected to be lighter this season.


ORANGES
QUALITY: GOOD SUPPLY: SHORT

Demand exceeds supply on smaller fruit (88-138ct); this will remain the trend for the remainder of the season.

PEPPERS
QUALITY: GOOD SUPPLY: MODERATE

Market is somewhat active as volumes of Green and Colored Peppers were impacted by high temperatures. Quality remains good. 


PINEAPPLES
QUALITY: GOOD SUPPLY: MODERATE

Market is steady. Quality remains good with brix levels of 14 and above.


POTATOES
QUALITY: GOOD SUPPLY: MODERATE

Market is steady. ID Burbank storage crop is done until mid-October. Red, White and Yukon all have good quality and supply. Yams have begun in CA. 


SQUASH
QUALITY: FAIR SUPPLY: SHORT

Demand exceeds supply after high temperatures and rains impact fields. Quality is fair to good. 

TOMATOES
QUALITY: FAIR SUPPLY: SHORT

Cherry and Grape Tomato markets are volatile with drastically reduced supplies across the U.S. and Mexico. Round and Roma markets are also struggling to keep up with demand as CA contends with extreme heat and Mexico deals with the aftermath of Hurricane Katia.
