Strawberry demand exceeding supplies.


Green grape market is volatile as domestic product rapidly declines.
 
 Commodity Report

Apples/Pears
Quality: Good
Supply: Moderate
 
Apples: Red delicious remain steady on all sizes, despite shortage of 125s and smaller. Gold delicious (peaking 70-88ct), Granny-Smiths (peaking 72-88ct), Galas, Honeycrisps and Fujis all remain steady. Small Granny-Smiths and Golden delicious are extremely tight out of the Washington area. 

Pears:  Bartletts (peaking 70-90ct), Bosc (peaking 80/100ct), Red pears (peaking 40-50ct) and D'anjou (peaking 80/100ct) all remain steady out of Washington. California has some Bartletts remaining, but for the most part is suppliers are finished for the season. 
 
Asparagus
Quality: Good
Supply: Moderate
 
Market fairly steady. Volume out of Mexico has declined by 50% as their season comes to a close. Greater availability being seen on smaller sizes. Peruvian volumes have improved.  

Avocados
Quality: Good
Supply: Short
    
Market continues to improve with adequate volumes being seen out of Mexico. Supplies of 48/60/70/84ct have improved as market stabilizes. New crop is taking longer to ripen, but overall quality is good.

Broccoli
Quality: Good
Supply: Moderate
 
Market remains steady, with adequate supplies being seen from all regions. Quality remains good, despite some reports of yellowing and dehydration.

Cauliflower
Quality: Good
Supply: Moderate
 
Market is strengthening as supplies tighten. Yuma still has yet to yield adequate volumes as Salinas winds down. Quality varies with reports of black spotting and yellow to cream coloring.
 
Cantaloupes
Quality: Good
Supply: Moderate
  
Market remains fairly steady as offshore arrivals boost supplies of 9ct. Demand continues to steadily grow, though their is little concern as desert, Mexican and offshore supplies are plentiful. Quality out of all regions is excellent. 

Carrots
Quality: Good
Supply: Moderate
 
Market remains unchanged. The Central Valley continues to produce a healthy percentage of Jumbos. Quality is excellent. 
 
Celery
Quality: Good
Supply: Short
 
Market is once again steady, though smaller sizes remain limited. Overall quality is good out of both Yuma and Salinas. 
     
Cucumbers
Quality: Good
Supply: Moderate

Market is unchanged with good supply and quality being seen out of Nogales. 
 
Eggplant
Quality: Good
Supply: Moderate

Market is unchanged with good quality and condition being seen out of Sonora, Mexico. Nogales began production last week. 
 
Grapes
Quality: Good
Supply: Moderate

Green: Market remains active with domestic grapes extremely limited. Relief is not expected until Chilean imports begin in late December.

Red: Market remains steady with adequate domestic supply. Quality remains good.   
 
Honeydews
Quality: Good
Supply: Moderate
 
Market is steady as the desert ramps up and Mexican exports ship. Quality out of the desert is excellent.

Iceberg
Quality: Fair
Supply: Moderate

Market remains fairly steady despite lower yields. Brawley, Coachela Valley, Yuma and Santa Maria are all active; Huron is done. Misshapen heads and discoloration persist (avg weights 38-44lb).

Leaf Lettuce
Quality: Fair
Supply: Moderate

Market is steady. Salinas, Huron, Southern California and Yuma are all producing at this time. Northern and Southern California continue to struggle with quality issues among all leaf items.  

Lemons
Quality: Good
Supply: Short

Market is steady. While harvesting in the Central Valley has yet to ramp up, volumes out of the desert and Mexico have been good. Meyer are in full swing. 
    
Limes
Quality: Good
Supply: Short
 
Market is steady with good quality. Harvesting of the new crop has begun with adequate volumes of all sizes being seen. 

Onions
Quality: Good
Supply: Moderate
 
Market remains unchanged with supplies currently exceeding demand. Washington, Idaho and Oregon are steady on all colors, with larger sizes being most readily available. Overall quality remains good.
   
Oranges
Quality: Good
Supply: Moderate
 
Market is steady as the new crop of navels reaches full production (peaking 88/72/113ct. Flavor and internal color are great.

Peppers (Colored)
Quality: Good
Supply: Moderate
 
Market is leveling as volumes increase out of Nogales, AZ and Sonora, Mexico. Quality and condition are good.

Peppers (Green)
Quality: Good
Supply: Moderate

Market is remains fairly volatile as supplies of yellow squash continue to tighten, however, green squash remains in good supply. Volumes are not expected to recover for several weeks when Southern California and Mexico are able to reach their full production capabilities. 

Strawberries

Supply: Short

Market is volatile as demand continues to exceed supply. California remains limited in its production and Mexican berry sizing has been very small. Volumes are not expected to recover for several weeks when Southern California and Mexico are able to reach their full production capabilities.   
 
Tomatoes
Quality: Good
Supply: Moderate
 
Rounds - Market is steady as supplies improve. Quality is good.

Roma -  Market is steady. Production should increase steadily over the next few weeks. Quality is fair to good. 

Cherry - Market is steady with improving supplies. Quality is good.

Grape - Market fairly steady as supplies improve. Quality remains fair to good.
