Greetings!
November is upon us and the first weekend
promises to be a chilly one. So, for this tasting, we are
featuring three reds and one white. Start thinking about those
holiday dinners now!
We
will start the tasting with a
wine produced from one of the oldest grape varieties in Chile.
This light-bodied dry white wine shows off some cool lime zest,
lemongrass, verbena and white tea notes and finishes with a lot of
lively acidity. Perfect with seafood!
Our second wine is a new Napa Valley Pinot
Noir that is medium-bodied
with cherry, strawberry and plum; surrounded by light toast
flavors. Blue fruit characters are balanced with spicy and earthy
notes. The finish is filled with silky round tannins.
Our third wine is an Argentinean Malbec.
Malbec is originally from south-west France, where it is still
grown, but it is now unavoidably associated with Argentina. The
country's most-planted grape, it is Argentineans' favored
accompaniment to the huge steaks that are the national dish.
Filled with lush fruit, soft tannins, and pleasant acidity,
this wine pairs well with beef
dishes or is just fine to drink on its own.
Our fourth wine is a new Cabernet Sauvignon from California - it is
deep ruby in color with aromas of ripe cherry, cassis and
blackberry fruit. Flavors of blackberries and raspberries combined
with hints of savory spices coat the palate. The soft tannins and
sweet oak balance lead to a long and lingering finish.
Finally, we are now starting to take
reservations for our Annual Sparkling Wine & Champagne Tasting
on Thursday, December 16. Cost is $15 to taste five wines; light
hors'doevres will also be provided. Reservations are required by
either calling the shop at 513-744-9888 or responding to the event
