An academic journey that began in August of 2014 reached its culmination Thursday evening at the Richard & Louise Scholl Student Center as 62 young men and women received their diplomas from Marquette Catholic High School.
Principal Allyson Headd declared the welcome address before senior Leslie Reyes delivered an address on behalf of the students. Headd then presented the graduates while president James G. White and superintendent of schools Joseph Majchrowicz, Ed. D. presented the diplomas.
Led by music director Amy Crane, the Marquette Singers performed a splendid rendition of "The Prayer." Senior Thomas Gotsch, Jr. stated one final address before the graduates recessed to "Pomp and Circumstance."
Twenty-one members of Marquette's Class of 2018 graduated with summa cum laude distinction by virtue of a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average or higher. Those 21 students accrued an average of 25 dual-credit hours and 80 percent either studied or traveled abroad.
For the eighth consecutive year, each member of Marquette's graduating class received acceptance into at least one college or university.
Marquette Catholic High School extends its congratulations to the Class of 2018 and its families.
