Grab your umbrella and head over to Club Lucky tonight! Photo by Philin Phlash, who might be the only person in the world who would put our city's mayor and a fortune teller in the same blog post.

In other news, Doc Martens is newly arrived and looking for workers, per this sign, spotted in its window of the former Earwax space.

Over 2,500 pie lovers poured into Bucktown's Holstein Park for this past weekend's 7th Annual Bucktown Apple Pie Contest, and yes, we were there, too!

Linkypoos continues! Check out Nandika's Linkypoos column, which includes a safety alert pertaining to a recent string of armed robberies, as well as Eva's real estate column wherein just three homes, all single family detached, found new owners this past week.

Thanks to everyone who is participating as advertisers in the upcoming Celebrate! magazine. Elaine Coorens, publisher of Our Urban Times, is co-producing Celebrate! with us. In addition to handling back end operations, Elaine is overseeing editorial content and working hard to make Celebrate! a better edition than We're in the Neighborhood.

As a result of your feedback, we are in the midst of making many improvements. Expect more stories, more food options, enticing deals, categorized listings (all display advertisers will be included in the listings- thanks to all who suggested this!), a map, and at least one contest, involving a special challenge just for men.

contest bowls
Will you be able to tackle whatever Peter puts into this ice cream bowl for you?
"Why only men?"
we asked Dr. Peter Poulos, proprietor of Margie's Candies, pictured, this past Monday. The answer to our question and the contest details will be revealed within the pages of Celebrate! Stay tuned, and gentleman, start your diets in preparation for what could be the biggest ice cream headache that you've ever had.

On a less celebratory note, in the midst of gathering participation for Celebrate! we were saddened to hear from the proprietors of Damen and Augusta Food Store, who reported that if they do not receive a liquor license soon, they might need to close their business. Read about Samar and Eddie Rawan's petition here.

On another note, if you are interested in donating to help pay for a young West Bucktown resident's medical care after a tragic beating, click here for more info and thank you to Matthew Bailey of First Ward Ald. Moreno's office for providing the link.

Why tarot? Why tonight?

It's October and it's cold and rainy and we've got a brand new deck of cards from The Occult Bookstore that we wanted to try out on someone besides our cat.

We don't take tarot even remotely seriously-- in fact, we prefer that you don't as well! We enjoy it as a hobby, as well as a conversation starter and a chance to interpret the meaning of archetypal cards.  If you are a reader-supporter of the pipeline and pop by tonight for a free reading because of seeing this email, we will add your name to a special Thank You section to appear in the printed edition of Celebrate!

Yours,

Alisa, in collaboration with Elaine, Nandika, Phlash, Joe, CeCe, and Josh
