"Sunday Paintings" is Mary Henderson's long awaited follow up to her 2011 exhibition "Bathers." As in her previous work, Henderson sources material from social media and photo-sharing websites to examine class-specific cultural phenomena. What separates "Sunday Paintings" from her last series is how the artist has transported herself from passive voyeur to activate participant in the urban settings she's examining.

"Tim Okamura" The National Arts Club, NY February 4 - March 1, 2014
Tim Okamura's works, comprising life-sized paintings depicting soulful New York City women, are a compelling exploration of street chic beauty re-imagined within the genre of royal portraiture. COMING UP
Bobby Mathieson
March 6 - 9, 2014
82Mercer, New York, NY 10012
(entrance at 76 Mercer St., between Spring & Broome Streets)
We are pleased to present Bobby Mathieson as our featured artist at VOLTA NY this year. Volta NY is an invitational show of emerging solo artists' projects and a showcase for relevant art contemporary positions.
Positioning historically and culturally significant subjects within a strongly visceral and highly textured figurative expressionism, Bobby Mathieson's paintings reflect the emotional complexity shaping his relationship to these figures through a portraiture that is at once provocative, grotesque and deeply reverent.
