My Campaign for the RVSD Begins!
Dear Family and Friends,
I am excited to officially announce my candidacy for the Ross Valley Sanitary District Board of the Directors! The election will be held on June 5, 2012. While it is still a few months before ballots are mailed out, my campaign is progressing at a fast pace. I have already earned the endorsements from District 2 Supervisor Katie Rice, the majority of the Larkspur City Council, and RVSD Board Secretary Peter Sullivan!
As most of you know, in December 2005, 4,000 gallons of sewage flowed into the ground-level living area of my Kentfield home. Since that time I've followed the RVSD Board, and have come to the conclusion that I have skills and abilities to contribute which would serve the Board and the residents of the Ross Valley. It seems to me that we should all be able to flush our toilets and trust that everything will go smoothly from that point on. But politics and non-responsive management sometimes get in the way.
For those of you who don't know, the RVSD is comprised of towns in Marin -- Fairfax, San Anselmo, Ross, Kentfield, Greenbrae and Larkspur -- that together form the Ross Valley. One of the oldest sanitary districts in the state (designated "Number 1"), RVSD's pipes are old and overtaxed each winter by the rainwater that enters the system in runoff. The challenges are many and rational responsive leadership is key to public confidence in the management of the district.
I have a long term interest in public health and public service and am asking my nearest and dearest to support me in this campaign with contributions of time, money and networking.
I look forward to making specific requests from my supporters in the coming months. In the meantime, please visit mary4rvsd.com and let me know how you are willing to help my campaign.
