CBP wins 2018 SBA VBOC of the Year award 
The Small Business Administration recently announced that the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) at Community Business Partnership (CBP) is the 2018 VBOC of the Year. CBP's long history of supporting Veteran business owners includes hosting the annual Veterans in Business Conference (now in its 13th year), Veterans' peer group roundtables, and the monthly Objective Rally Point Veterans networking breakfast. The SBA will recognize the VBOC staff's numerous accomplishments at a ceremony in Washington, DC, on April 29.  Read more 
Bezzini featured speaker at International Women's Day conference 
Mary Bezzini (President and CEO, Godman Power Group) participated at the 2018 International Women's Day, Women in International Trade (WIIT) conference as a featured panelist discussing "Women Seizing New Opportunities with Africa: Driving U.S.-Africa Exports, Investment, and Partnerships."  Godman Power Group is an incubator client at MEC-CBP in Springfield. Bezzini earned international recognition as an expert in the field of energy, software integration, security, and compliance, with particular depth in deploying microgrid technology and turbines.  Read more 
ViB Conference still continues its success
Over 215 Veteran small business owners, military spouses, government agency representatives, prime contractors, commercial vendors, and elected officials converged for the annual Veterans in Business Conference.  It provided relevant education, networking, and business opportunities for Veteran small business owners to meet commercial businesses as well as local, state, and federal government agencies. Feedback from attendees praised the "quality of the venue, workshops, and speakers," as well as the "friendly air of diversity and inclusion" that many of the first-time small business owners felt throughout the day.  Read more
MEC-CBP welcomes AJ's Heating & Air Conditioning
Adinsson Salazar (President) and Johana Ramos (Operations Manager) founded AJ'S Heating & Air Conditioning LLC in June 2016 to provide residential and light commercial HVAC services.  In order to achieve business goals, grow the company, and make AJ's successful, Salazar and Ramos needed a non-home based office.  The CBP's incubation program met all of Salazar and Ramos' requirements. "We consider the MEC-CBP incubator program a piece of heaven that is able to help small businesses with office space and mentorship to be successful."  Read more

Conffianz adds Nestle Consumer Health leader to Board
Conffianz, the leading Latina-focused skincare line and MEC-Fairfax client, announced that Albert Draaijer is joining its Board of Directors.  Draaijer started the Nestle Consumer Health division, with household names such as Cetaphil and Proactiv and was president of Galderma, where he grew revenues from $400 million to $1.5 billion.   "We are thrilled to welcome Albert to our Board," said Peter P. Jeffrey Eppink honored for Who's Who lifetime achievement
Marquis Who's Who, publisher of biographical profiles, presented Jeffrey Eppink with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Eppink is celebrated for his achievements, leadership qualities, credentials, and successes. He started his career as a planetary scientist for Jet Propulsion Laboratory and expanded into the energy industry. Throughout his career, he has served as an expert witness in Congress regarding energy and environmental issues.  Mr. Eppink now serves as president of Enegis, LLC, which he founded in 2007.  Read more

Synnott named 2017 Virginia Small Business Veteran
Stephen R. Synnott, CEO and President of Syntelligent Analytic Solutions, was named as the 2017 Virginia Small Business Veteran of the Year.  Syntelligent, an SDVOSB, provides professional management, plus technical solutions and services, to government and private sector clients.  With the principle office in Luray, Syntelligent earned a HUBZone certification, and he made such a significant impact on Page County that the company was named the National HUBZone Corporate Business of 2016.  Syntelligent is also certified as a Virginia Values Veterans (V3) company, with veterans making up 38% of his workforce.  "I'm deeply honored and privileged to receive this award," said Synnott. "I would not have achieved such success if wasn't for the talent, dedication, and hard work of all our employees."  Read more
