Rudy makes life easier for seniors
MEC-Fairfax startup INF Robotics Inc. has been at work for six years to develop Rudy, a robot who can give care to seniors at home.  Now that Rudy has landed his first customer, the company is launching a marketing campaign to let the public know its robot is available.  The product will be commercially available through a partnership with Sodexo-owned Comfort Keepers of Reston with additional contracts in the works, according to founder and CEO Anthony Nunez.  Read more
Visionary awarded a contract with VASNHCS
The US Dept. of Veterans Affairs Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS) recently awarded Visionary Consulting Partners, LLC, (Visionary) a contract to provide pre-planning services. The award supports VASNHCS in their ongoing efforts to provide primary and secondary care to the Veteran population of northern Nevada and northeastern California. Visionary will assist the VASNHCS in activities designed to support the initial outfitting, transition, and activation of the renovated medical center located on the main campus in Reno, Nevada.

Breaking ground for Veterans Care Center
Renee Younes, Regional Manager for MEC-Fauquier, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Puller Veterans Care Center. The 128-bed center, opening in late 2019, will provide high quality care for Virginia vets in a home-like setting, with physical and occupational therapy and a pharmacy. Governor McAuliffe said he was proud that Virginia is the first state to be HUD-certified as having "functionally ended veteran homelessness in our state."

Ken Lukonis, owner of Strategic Alliance Consulting and a member of Leadership Fauquier, described his experience with MEC-Fauquier. "The pricing is conducive to new small businesses. The MEC helped with space and internet services, but also with counseling. We have used the PTAP services to help us answer questions as a growing business. We have also had the opportunity to give back and help other professionals as they decide if they want to start a business or need help with some of the start-up tasks."

VBOC promotes veteran entrepreneurship
National Veterans Small Business Week (Oct 30 to Nov 3, 2017) raised awareness of Veteran business ownership and encouraged communities to support it. To promote Veteran entrepreneurship in the National Capital region, the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) at Community Business Partnership (CBP) hosted a two-day agribusiness workshop that covered the fundamentals of starting a small business, as well as observations and insights about agribusiness. Read more
