By Dave Clark

Seattle has a bit of a problem with a key component of this Soccer Thing. They aren't scoring goals. They are creating chances, however. That's a Good Thing, but to apply the old "Regression to the Mean" Thing they have to continue creating those chances and then convert them. They must also do that while continuing to play strong defense. Here's how that works:

- Continue using the high pressure that was initially applied against Santos Laguna here and existed for every half of play since (except for that first half against Salt Lake)
- Use the asymmetry to your advantage
.
It makes the opposition think. Athletes don't like to think. They like to act on instinct. But, asymmetry is uncommon enough that it cannot be instinctual.
- Pummel that keeper. The Rapids are down a couple keepers already. Clint Irwin is just 24 and a developmental project. Seattle's attacking force should be able to force him to stand on his head. He still might, but if they force him to be amazing there's a strong chance he isn't.
- Take the field with humility. Don't hold your head as if you deserve victory. Act like you'll earn three points. The team hasn't acted superior without effort in some time, but that can not be a pattern that they accept. No more benchings due to a superiority complex. Earn the points.

No match at elevation is easy. Easy wins in MLS are rare enough anyway. There is a fanbase, a front office, and a squad of 29 players hungry for a win in league play. Honestly, they are all hungry for several wins. A streak has to start with a first win.

Saturday needs to be that time.

AWAY INFORMATION:

Tickets:
You will find your ticket(s) for the match on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Dick Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado attached to this email. Print your ticket and bring it with you. Go ahead and print it now, we'll wait. Seriously, print it now. Don't forget it. Don't be like someone we could name...

Parking:
Park in Lot BB. To get to this area, please enter the complex off of 64th and Quebec. This is also where we will meet up for our pre-function.

Pregame:
Let's meet around 1PM and TAILGATE! Some marvelous locals have volunteered to bring a gas grill. The tailgate is no-host, so bring something to share, and prepare to get to know new friends. Consider declaring your contribution on the Travel Thread in the ECS Forums. Please note the use of charcoal is prohibited and no kegs are allowed.

Entering the Stadium:
In light of the tragic events surrounding the Boston Marathon this week, you may find the staff of DSG Park employing higher-than-usual security precautions. As these are the folks who run towards chaos, please give them some extra understanding this week. They are just making sure everyone stays safe.

Gametime (Important Information):
Emerald City Supporters is a supporters group. That's important to remember. Our reason for being at the match is to spur our boys on toward victory; everything else is secondary.

* Our section will be treated as General Admission, we do not enforce seat assignments. Tifo, capos, the drum, and security will be in the front few rows. Everyone else is invited to stand where they feel most comfortable.

* Participation is encouraged. We'll have song cards so you can sing, chant, and go mental right along with us. Don't worry if you don't know all the words, just follow along the best you can and your support will be felt!

* There may be times where you can't see as well as you might like due to flags and tifo. We like to wave flags. Even during the run of play sometimes. We feel like it's an important part of showing the boys our support, and they are going to need every ounce of strength. If a flag is in your way, and you don't like it - please feel free to change seats. That's part of why we do GA, so you're not stuck in an uncomfortable spot.

* Do not engage in any way with home fans. Security will keep them at bay; there's no need to engage in any wordplay, taunting, threats, etc. If you have an issue, notify ECS security or stadium staff.

Postgame:
Standard procedure is that we stay in our section until stadium security gives us the instruction to leave, and then we all leave together. If you choose not to stay with the group, you assume the risks of your own security.

Victory Celebration:
If you traveled all that way to see our first victory of the year, by all means, GO MENTAL! And, maybe hit that Slightly Stoopid concert at Red Rocks.

For additional information please refer to the Colorado Away travel page. Be safe. Support hard. Bring home 3 points.

Suggested Matchday Plan (All times local):
11:00 - Wake up. Have brunch. Maybe a greyhound will settle your stomach.

There is also a grassy berm there you are welcome to use. The use of charcoal is prohibited and no kegs are allowed.
