Apple's App of the Year for 2017 is called CALM. It is free on both Android and iPhone based systems. From what I read, the app can help to improve your sleep, reduce some anxiety and may even contribute to you feeling a little happier. The app works with meditation and relaxation to help you to destress. Music is also a factor on the site.
Headspace
is also free. According to www.medicalnewstoday.com, this app's mission is to "provide you with the essential tools to achieve a happier, healthier life." This app addresses keeping your mind fit and reducing stress through themed meditation and mindfulness sessions.
SuperBetter
is a game-focused app that helps increase resiliency and optimism when facing challenges in life. The University of Pennsylvania did a study and found that when people played this app, their symptoms of anxiety decreased and their belief in themselves had some improvement as well.
Mind Shift
is a mental health app designed specifically for teens and young adults with anxiety. Instead of avoiding anxious feelings, Mind Shift stresses the importance of changing how you think about anxiety.
While these are just a few that have been recommended to me, there are so many others that can be of use with certain mental health issues. Please verify usage of these apps and potential cost if that is an issue.
If you are using an app that is helpful to you, please email me and I will pass along that information to my readers in a future newsletter.
