May Joint Qualicum Beach Parksville Chamber Meeting - Thursday, May 11th

Parksville will be hosting this year's Joint Chamber meeting at the Parksville Community & Conference Centre. 

Keynote speaker will be  Frank Bourree,
Frank is a Principal and owner of Chemistry Consulting Group Inc. which  operates eight offices in BC with 110 staff. Catered by Spice of Life Catering, the cost will be $35 pp. Networking begins at 5:30, dinner at 6:30.

Wise Women, Carolyn Redl and Betty Price, share their journeys of stepping outside the norm for women - they worked and got educated in a day when not many women were. Both women belong to the CFUW - Canadian Federation of University Women. A group of women committed to and actively promoting equality, education and opportunities for girls and women.

Will hold there regular meeting May 17, 7:00pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, 180 Veterans Way, Qualicum Beach.  Guest speaker:  Penny Bent - Topic: Filling in the Gaps - A talk on the importance of revisiting your Ancestors Records.  Guests Welcome.

Monday, May 29 in the  Windsor Room - Qualicum Civic Centre from  9 am to 4:30 pm

The instructor will be Sally de la Rue Browne, CPHIC who is a Certified Public Health Inspector with Enviro-Food Consulting. As a member of the Qualicum Beach CHamber of Commerce, she is offering this course at a discounted fee for members. 
Clients include Kwalikum Secondary School, Beban Park Rec, Whole Foods & Red Robin Canada.

Chamber members will receive a discounted fee of $68.00!

Pre-registration of members will be required. A tax receipt is issued as well. Students will be qualified on the day after successfully completing the exam. A temporary certificate is issued and can be used until the official one is ready from Vancouver Island Health.

Move for Health Day Everyone Welcome Swim
Come for a swim at Ravensong Aquatic Centre and celebrate Move for Health Day, an international event promoting active living. Saturday May 13th from 1:30 to 5:00 pm. Regular admission. 
The Intertidal Zone Tour at Moorecroft Regional Park
Take a walk with a certified Park Naturalist and learn about the incredible natural world we have around us. On this tour, you will explore the intertidal zone of Vancouver Island's east shores. From barnacles to the "love cycle" of the sea cucumber, you don't want to miss this interesting session in the tide pools.  Children 6 years+ can register and attend with an adult. This tour is on Saturday, May 13th from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Cost is $16 per person. 

Wesley Ridge Guided Hike
Hike steep, old-growth forest trails to the ridge for a look at the Salish Sea and the nearby peaks of Mt. Cokely and Mt. Arrowsmith. This is a chance to test your personal fitness and make some alpine hiking goals. Hike intensity rating is 1 star: long stretches of steady incline and steep terrain.  Saturday May 13th, 8:00 am start. Cost is $45 per person. 
Red Cross Child Care Emergency First Aid with AED/CPR 14yrs+
This course is designed for parents and caregivers of children. Approved by the Provincial Community Care Licensing Branch and retraining is recommended every three years. This course covers home hazards, accident prevention, safety education, CPR, first aid skills for common emergencies and automated external defibrillators (AED). Qualicum Commons, Saturday May 13th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Cost is $84.40. 
Red Cross Emergency Youth First Aid with AED/CPR 13-18yrs
This course is designed to teach youth about injury prevention. Home hazards, safety education, CPR, automated external defibrillation and first aid skills for common emergencies are all covered. Retraining is recommended every 3 years. Qualicum Commons on Friday, May 19th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, cost is $84.40.
