Michigan region installs new regional minister

The Michigan region is welcoming a new regional minister, but he is not unfamiliar. The Rev. Eugene James, Jr., has been serving as a Co-Transitional Regional Minister in the area as well as pastor of Northwestern Christian Church in Detroit. A life-long Disciple, James has also served the wider church on the Overseas Ministries Board, the Michigan Black Disciples Caucus and helping connect volunteers to mission programs in the Detroit area. Wheel mash up reaches youth

First Christian Church, Burlington, Iowa, is coming up on the fifth year of REVERT, an action sports ministry. REVERT meets every Saturday night from 7 to 9 p.m. Anywhere from 10-20 youth spend time riding ramps the youth helped to build followed by reading out of the Bible. Currently the group is working through the entire book of Matthew. Some of the youth have come from some very difficult life situations but now find themselves relying on God rather than dealing with things all alone, REVERT has given them hope.

 

Michael Kinnamon joins Seattle school

Michael Kinnamon will be joining Seattle University's School of Theology and Ministry (STM) for the next three years as the Spehar-Halligan Visiting Professor of Ecumenical Collaboration in Interreligious Dialogue, beginning August 2012.  Read more
