Professional Development Grants (PDG) are designed to assist Arizona artists, arts administrators and arts educators with funding support for participation in professional development and skills-building activities which contribute to significant professional growth.

On May 6, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) made their second major grant announcement of fiscal year 2015. Among those awarded funding in this round of the Art Works grant program were 15 Arizona arts and culture organizations, representing a total investment of $435,000.

Each year, the Arts Commission convenes volunteer panelists from across the state to review applications for its grants to organizations and schools. These meetings are open to the public and offer a prime opportunity for current and prospective applicants to observe the panel review process and learn more about the qualities of successful, competitive grant applications.

The Wall with Credits 
Last month, 
Robert Booker, Executive Director of the Arizona Commission on the Arts and Board Chair of Grantmakers in the Arts, attended a  gathering of philanthropists, grantmakers and thought leaders to "explore an asset-based, rather than deficit-based, approach to aging." He returned with this video, which Aroha Philanthropies has generously permitted us to share. 

Museum of Northern Arizona Awarded National Medal for Library & Museum Service
The National Medal is the nation's highest honor given to museums and libraries for service to the community. For 21 years, the award has celebrated institutions that present extraordinary and innovative approaches to public service to make a difference for individuals, families and communities.

Blue Star Museums Offers Free Admission to Military Families at 2000+ Museums Nationwide
A collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense and museums across America, Blue Star Museums offers free admission to the nation's service members, including National Guard and Reserve, and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2015.

Each year, the Tucson Pima Arts Council (TPAC) partners with Southern Arizona's business, government and arts communities to honor the region's arts luminaries-the individuals, organizations and businesses that make Southern Arizona a wellspring of creative vitality.

25th International Sculpture Conference to be held in Phoenix
The International Sculpture Center will travel to Phoenix, Arizona for its first conference in the American Southwest. Inspired by exploration in art and architecture in desert landscapes, the 25th International Sculpture Conference will bring together artists, arts administrators, curators, patrons, students and sculpture enthusiasts for new discoveries in the field of sculpture.

Fellowships Available for Nonprofit Leaders
The Piper Fellows program, designed to strengthen the nonprofit sector, awards up to six fellowships annually to nonprofit leaders in Maricopa County. The fellowships enable executives to design sabbaticals for professional growth and renewal, and each award underwrites up to $30,000 in expenses related to the sabbatical.
