Rachel from Hike it Baby was the inspiration for this newsletter. She dropped by NAO last week to drop off information about Hike it Baby. Hike it Baby is a fun (relatively new to Juneau) hiking group just for parents and their kids. Organized group hikes are a fantastic way to get out, meet people with similar interests and explore all the wonders that Juneau has to offer. We have a variety of groups available that offer adventures for beginners to advanced explorers. The groups that I know about are listed below, if you know of other groups, please let me know and I will add them to another newsletter.
Hike it Baby

Do you have kids? Do you love hiking? Do you love getting your kids outside with you in nature? Come join Hike it Baby.

Hike it Baby is a parents group dedicated to getting families together and out into nature with newborns and little ones. There are branches in over 200 cities around the country and internationally. You can find the local Juneau branch by visiting our website at hikeitbaby.com or searching for our Facebook page, "Hike it Baby Juneau." We have a wide variety of hikes, outdoor play dates, and urban strolls and the best part of being a member of Hike it Baby, is it's FREE! Hikes are led by volunteers, you could even lead one yourself. We welcome everyone from mom, dad, partner, granny to nanny to friend. Happy hiking, and we'll be seeing you on the trails!

Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW)
Alaska Department of Fish and Game
Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) are hands-on workshops that teach adults outdoor skills while building their confidence in their ability to get out and safely enjoy all that the outdoors has to offer. BOW helps women grow and become more confident by offering classes in an encouraging, supportive, and non-competitive learning environment. BOW classes are kept small so that participants receive plenty of one-on-one interaction with friendly, supportive instructors. No experience is necessary and BOW is for adults of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Alaska BOW has had participants ranging in age from 18 to 85. BOW attendees enjoy camaraderie with others and experience what many call a life-changing, fun-filled weekend. Class offerings at BOW workshops vary according to season but focus on three areas: shooting/hunting, fishing/boating, and other outdoor activities. While BOW is targeted at women, men are welcome to participate as well.
