She focuses her energy and talent as a supervisor, trainer, and adult support group leader in our Woodland Hills center, where she oversaw over 30% growth in 2016. Thanks to you, we raised over $600,000 for grief support! Nearly 1,700 individuals participated, honoring the memory of those close to them who have died.

The Whelan Family's Story of Hope

When Patrick Whelan set out to create a team with his two sons for the Run For Hope to honor the memory of his wife, Victoria, his expectations were modest. "It has been more than a year since she died and I wasn't sure what the enthusiasm level might be."

Little did he know that 52 of his friends and family would seize the opportunity to show their support, celebrate Victoria's life and continue their own healing journey.

Patrick was astounded to learn that his team was the largest of the entire event, raising over $14,000 for grief support. "I am awed by both the number of people that participated and the amount of money that was contributed."

"My boys and I are simply blessed by having a wonderful support system of family and friends who stepped up to remember Victoria and support Nick, Will and myself. "

"Anyone who hesitates to participate because they don't feel
athletic enough for a 5K should know that it is not about the 5K and it is a completely non-competitive event, with many more people walking than running. It is all about honoring the people we love who have died and supporting those that carry on without them."

Patrick, we are profoundly grateful to you and your family for your inspirational story, your courage to include others in your personal journey and for your generous support of the OUR HOUSE mission of Sharing Grief, Finding Hope. Thanks to people like you, we are able to help more people so that no one will ever have to grieve alone.
