Sowing Seeds

Matthew 13:23
"As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”

The Glenn’s and teams of volunteers have been on the move in the past month. Our Kardo Prayer Retreat was one of the most powerful yet. Intercessors met for 24 hours of worship and prayer for all the places where Kardo has sown seeds to encourage bible study among families. This keystone annual event preceded an intense month of ministry. David and Denise will share a few highlights as they are writing this month from Switzerland.

David's Heart Cry

I am writing this newsletter report from Lucerne, Switzerland, where Denise and I are resting after 6 days in Romania, 3 days in Switzerland, and 4 days in France on mission. This trip has been so encouraging! Let me explain…My description of the spiritual climate of Europe is that it’s like hard ground. The hearts of many people are opposed to the Truth. But in Romania, I saw eager pastors, hungry for biblical truth. And what a surprise in Switzerland! The first event there, I challenged the men to pray with their wives for the next 30 days. The very next day we got a call from one of the wives saying her husband prayed with her for the first time in their marriage, and that he had asked her for forgiveness for not being the spiritual leader! She called later to say they were keeping up the challenge by praying together.

Later I spoke with another church leader who told me an amazing story of how the Swiss constitution begins with a comment about God. He said the power of prayer in the nation of Switzerland kept them out of WWII and today there is a great movement of prayer here! We are privileged to be a small part of it. Praise God!

I believe the reason this mission trip has been so blessed is because of the prayers of supporters like you! Thank you SO MUCH for your prayers! Please don’t stop. We leave for Bolivia today to complete this mission trip. We are praying for hundreds to come to Christ during those days.

Our meetings in Romania, Switzerland and France over the past 2 weeks and have been much more fruitful than we expected. God blessed each event and we could literally feel the prayers being offered for us. Ministry in Europe is often hard, but this time things were different. Our first night in Switzerland, a lady accepted Christ and the second night, I was able to lead another lady to Christ only speaking Spanish! At another event in Switzerland, I reconnected with a lady who had been doubtful about the relevance of Ephesians 5:22 for women of today when I met her three years ago. That same lady shared with me that after we left last time, she began a group studying Wisdom for Women in French, and God spoke clearly to her. She reports that her life and marriage have been completely transformed. I could see the difference in the glow on her face! Living biblically is to live cross-culturally in Europe. It is hard for them. But be encouraged and don’t stop praying for our friends in Europe. God is MOVING here!

One last note: My sweetheart carved out 3 days of this mission trip for us to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. We are in Switzerland and he couldn’t have chosen a more perfect place. God has brought us out of the darkness, so we know that our love is due to His resurrection power and His grace in our lives. God is good!

Recent Travels

Seattle, WA- Denise led a MotherWise leadership training event April 20 in Seattle at a large Korean Presbyterian Church. Many came from as far away as Vancouver, Canada. We’re excited about new MotherWise groups forming as a result.

Romania- David and Denise returned to Romania with a team from First Baptist Church, Katy, Texas to launch the newly translated Romanian Freedom for Fathers and Mothers books. About 40 pastors/wives attended a Thurs noon to Sat noon retreat to be trained with these materials. A highlight was the last day when one couple shared how they were using the Wisdom materials in their church and also with parents of needy children in their village.

Switzerland/France- Our partners, Sabine Koehl and Mary Anne & Sylvain Piaget, expertly planned several key events in western (French-speaking) Switzerland and in France, opening the door for our newly published French Wisdom for Women/Men books.

Upcoming Travels

Bolivia - The Glenn's along with a team of 10 from Houston will minister in Cochabamba Bolivia from May 11-17 during their Dia de Familia events. Please pray for many to come to faith at the soccer stadium event on May 13 evening and for all the church family speaking events on Sun and Mon, the official holiday.

Houston, TX - On Saturday, May 20th from 2:00 - 4:00, Denise will be speaking at the Houston Chinese Church on Joy for a ladies' tea.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, JOY , peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness

and self-control." Galatians 5:22
