Help Make a Native Plant Garden
Gunpowder Valley Conservancy

Date/Time: Saturday, May 5, 10am - 1pm

Location: 7021 Healthcoate Dr., Kingsville

The mission of the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy is to educate and mobilize people and resources to preserve and restore the lands and waterways of the Gunpowder watershed. Join us for a free garden workshop to learn about Bay-Wise landscaping with native plants and then get hands-on experience planting an edible Bayscape Garden at a private residence in Kingsville. Bayscapes replace lawn with native plants that support wildlife, reduce maintenance, and filter rain water from your yard, driveway, or other hard surfaces. Bayscapes are planted in areas that will intercept and filter rainwater before it runs off to the creek, the Bay or a storm drain. Edible Bayscapes provide the added bonus of growing your own seasonal produce! We will be planting a Fig Tree Guild with currants, rhubarb, native shrubs and flowers. Dress for yard work (hat, long pants, sneakers/boots, sunscreen) and bring your own water bottle. Garden gloves and tools will be provided. Our hosts will provide lunch after the garden installation.

 Everyone is welcome to participate.
