May Cougar Chronicl e
Dear Parents,
Throughout the month of May, we remember Mary, the Mother of our Lord Jesus. She was a life-giving caregiver to our Savior, and she remains so for us today. She represents the fullness of holiness, for she was conceived without sin and assumed into heaven because of her special role in our salvation. She serves as an example for all of us to say, “yes” in practical ways to God’s Spirit of goodness. Your children turn to this beloved disciple of Christ for inspiration and for prayer each time we recite the Rosary.
Furthermore, during the month of May, we each day pray the Memorare. The Memorare is a prayer that reminds us that we have a wonderful advocate and protector in the mother of our Lord, the Blessed Virgin Mary.  In our prayers to her we honor and worship her Son, who is more than happy to listen to His mother’s pleas on our behalf.  The Memorare invites us to ask the Blessed Mother for her assistance and her grace, especially when we feel most troubled in our daily lives.
Keep in mind that when we pray to Mary we also pray through her to her Divine Son, Jesus!  She is happy to pray for us and to intercede with Him on our behalf. You’ve probably asked a friend or colleague to pray for you sometimes. Why not ask the Blessed Mother as well? After all, in the Hail Mary we ask for her to “pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.”
Don’t be afraid to ask our Blessed Mother for her assistance (or to show her your love!) by praying the Memorare, the Rosary, or many other fine prayers and devotions to her.  Please join us on Tuesday, May 22 at 1:00 for the Crowning of Mary. This is a beautiful opportunity for us to express our reverence for the dignity of Mary, the Mother of God, and of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Peace,
Mrs. Ann T. Sarpu
