IT'S HERE! WHOOHOOO!

OUR ABYC MEMORIAL DAY CELEBRATION...

Memorial Day ... doesn't it just cry out "steak sandwich"?  Don't sit home! Grab up the family and come on down to the Club!

The Memorial Day Regatta is going to be great fun for those wanting a challenging bit of fun on the water. But it's not just a weekend of racing: there maybe work to do on your boat. Or maybe you want to take your boat out for a cruise on the bay. Beach time and fun on the shore are always Memorial Day "classics" as well.

Then promptly at 4:00 the Patio Bar will open and a really scrumptious dinner is planned.  Steaks will be provided for you to cook just the way you want, with cold potato salad, thick slices of watermelon, and good old fashioned chocolate chip cookies. Only $12/adults and $8/children. RESERVATIONS ARE DUE BY TOMORROW, MAY 25TH!!! SHEILA AWAITS YOUR CALL!

If you are not racing in the Memorial Day Regatta, don't be left out, the C-20 Fleet needs a few good volunteers to help staff the regatta.

Assistance is needed on the committee boats and registration.  Even if you only have a half day you can still join the fun and help out.

If you can assist, please email:

Steve George - C-20 Fleet One Captain steven.george@oracle.com

Thank you ABYC Members. I am in continual awe at the way everyone pitches in when needed!

FROM COMMODORE CLAY
A retired sailor purchased a computer and began to learn all about computing. Being a sailor, he was used to addressing his ships as "She" or "Her". But was unsure what was proper for computers. To solve his dilemma, he set up two groups of computer experts: one group was male, and the other group was female.

The group of women reported that computers should be refereed to as "HE" because:

1. In order to get their attention you have to turn them on.
2. They have a lot of data but are still clueless.
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems but half the time they are the problem.
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have had a newer and better model.
5. Size does matter.

The group of men reported that computers should be referred to as "SHE" because:
1. No one but the creator understands their logic.
2. The native language they use to talk to other computers is incomprehensible to anyone else.
3. Even your smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for later retrieval.
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

Come on down to the Club this weekend and enjoy the Memorial Day festivities.

Have a great weekend ABYC,

-Commodore Chuck Clay (TripleC)

Would any members be willing to let one of our Junior Sailing summer coaches stay with them for the duration of the program? We have both a male and female instructor coming from out of town with nowhere to stay. They would need housing from approximately June 10th through August 20th.

If so, contact:
