April 28, 2017 - Qualicum Beach Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach renew partnership with Oktoberfest 2017
For 25 years the Qualicum Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach have teamed up to deliver an annual fundraising Gala. In 2016 they celebrated the successful 25th Gala as a "Night to Sparkle".
Valuing their strong partnership and still wanting to offer Qualicum Beach and surrounds an exciting, entertaining fall fundraising event, the planning committee decided that a change of focus was in order. Farewell Gala, hello Oktoberfest!
Originally held in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, Oktoberfest is a 16- to 18-day folk festival running from September to October. The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture, having been held since the Middle Ages. During the event, large quantities of beer are consumed.  In Munich there is also a wide variety of traditional foods including chicken, roast pork and Würstl (sausages) along with Brezen (pretzels) and Sauerkraut.
So mark your calendars for the first Qualicum Beach Oktoberfest, taking place at the Civic Centre on Friday October 13! Be prepared for bratwurst, beer, comely bar maids, local micro-breweries and even our own oom-pa-pa band! The night promises to offer great door prizes, in-house raffles and a dance far into the evening.
Tickets go on sale in early September. For further information or to talk about a sponsorship opportunity call Evelyn or Anne at the Qualicum Beach Chamber of Commerce at 250-752-0960.
