Regarding God's Creation
Gen 7:19  The water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains  everywhere under the heavens  were covered. ... 8:4  In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat. 5 The water decreased steadily until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains became visible.   - NASU       (Bold emphasis added.)

Is Life Self-made ?

The secular authorities teach that life occurs spontaneously, that it is will naturally arise from an appropriate set of favorable conditions.
Conditions where the chemical components of life will self-organize purely out of natural forces that are entirely random and purposeless. This is what is taught at all educational levels and professed by every textbook. This is what stands as politically correct and anything to the contrary is not tolerated.

But of course, the Bible asserts in many places that the entire
physical universe as well as all life systems are the workmanship of God. This is purposeful design and careful deliberate implementation of that design.

What does the empirical science have to say? This is science that can be analyzed, predicted, and verified in laboratory experiments.   Empirical science is what has generated all the laws of physics and chemistry and all our marvelous technology we now enjoy. This is the science that is reliable and productive. All scientists know this and strive for it.

In contrast there is historical or forensic science which tries to work with data about the past that cannot be observed or replicated in a laboratory. Historical science leaves the practitioners to
speculatively connect data points in a way that strongly depends on the assumptions they chose to make. So, each conclusion is often as much an assumption as it is anything else.

The issue of the origin of the first life arising from the inorganic chemicals found is nature is a problem that in some senses should be the easiest in the life sciences to solve. But even the top chemists have failed to do more than the most basic and speculative first steps toward what is needed for life. This is the result of decades of research by the best minds with the best laboratories with the funding and support of the top scientific establishments.

One of the hardest elements of that problem is that most of life's molecules are chiral having a left and right handed forms that occur
equally often in natural random chemical processes. That makes it essentially impossible to obtain the first life molecules because all life uses only one of the two forms. All amino acids have to be left handed while all sugars have to be right handed. Proteins and enzymes will not have functional shapes with right handed molecules thrown in. DNA and RNA will not have a functional shape with left-handed sugars thrown in. But chemists do not know how to get exclusively the correct handedness from natural chemistry! Thus, these life molecules cannot come out of natural random chemical processes.

Dr. James Tour at Rice University is one of the world's leading synthetic organic chemists and one of the few that speaks out about science's failed attempts to generate life from non-life while claiming success is just around the corner.  You might enjoy his more technical commentary available here .

On  May 4  we will have another great presentation by Robert Brayton.   His title will be Designer Genes: Autopoiesis . Poiesis is the Greek word for "workmanship" found in Ephesians 2:10: "For we are His workmanship...". The atheistic worldview teaches the idea of autopoiesis - that the "workmanship" of our life-systems made themselves. Brayton will show
us the levels of chemical interaction implied by the naturalistic worldview: the chaos of random molecules and undirected energy. Then he will contrast that against the highly precise molecular information and nanosystems that are driven by exacting catalytic proteins that control the tightly regulated life-systems. The contrast will reveal the activity of God and make clear an excellent challenge for the naturalists.

P rior to 2006 Brayton designed computer systems, including research in digital hardware, firmware and software with two patents for major companies. He studied at Purdue University, LeTourneau University, and the Texas School of Photography. As a Certified Professional Photographer, he now operates a photography business named PhotoVideoSound. His other interests include astrophotography, art, music, and Mensa.
