Welcoming Transitional Deacon Chris Tuttle

Saint Brigid of Kildare would like to welcome transitional Deacon Chris Tuttle, who began his role here the weekend of May 20, and will be at St. Brigid of Kildare for the next 10 weeks. Deacon Chris just finished his sixth year at the Pontifical College Josephinum, from where he will graduate in May of 2018. He is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree and a Master of Arts in Theology degree.

At St. Brigid, Deacon Chris hopes to learn valuable aspects for priestly ministry while also serving as a deacon at the parish. He will participate in the liturgies, preach, baptize, and help out with marriages and funerals. He will be learning practical aspects of parish life like Baptismal and Marriage preparation, how the annulment process works, and administrative aspects pertaining to the parish finances and parish policies and procedures.

Deacon Chris graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School in 2001. He then went to Otterbein College for a year before entering the golf industry. He worked for Brookside Country Club, then went to Naples, Florida where he was an assistant golf professional. He then worked as a teaching professional, then later head teaching professional for PGA Tour Superstores in Atlanta for a year then in Phoenix for six years before he applied to go to the seminary.

Deacon Chris is most looking forward to " being immersed in this large and busy parish and learning from the priests and experienced staff members and just being with the people of the parish. " You can reach him at the parish office at (614) 761-3734 or [email protected] .

Isn't That Just Like a Woman: Women of Israel

Join this Bible Study open to men and women who want to learn a little bit more about the wonderful women of our Bible.  You will also learn some biblical history, and one way to "break open the word," and apply it to your life.

In this first set, we will explore the lives of the Women of Israel and try to hear their voices speak to us today.  All too often we hear the phrase, "Isn't that just like a woman ..." and the intended meaning is not always complimentary.  As we meet the biblical women we will give new meaning to being "just like a woman ..." and see it as a mark of courage, determination, loyalty and faith.

WOMEN OF ISRAEL will be held June 1,8,15 at 7 PM in the Berry Room. No registration is required. Contact  Sr. Teresa Tuite, OP with questions at [email protected]

U pcoming Women's Bible Study:
Becoming Heart Sisters:
A Bible Study on Authentic Friendships

Woman to woman friendships are as important to our mental, physical and spiritual health as rest, exercise and prayer.  We don't just want friends - we need friends.  God created us to have relationships with others.

Using this program, we will dig into timeless truths of scripture and see examples of friendships.  If you are not sure if you want to participate in this program or if you want more information, come to the Program Overview and sample session on August 23 from 7:00- 8:30 pm.  There will be time for you to ask questions and to see what a session would be like.  This will give you the information you need in deciding to register or not register.

Registration will go from July 31 until September 1, 2017.
Program Dates: September 13, 20, 27, October 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 7:00- 8:30 PM

For more information, contact Sister Teresa Tuite at [email protected]

Programs to help older adults

Are you an  older adult or a concerned family member of a senior?  Are you looking at ways to continue to live at home safely, or to downsize and declutter? Are you interested in learning about senior housing options? Do you need help to figure out complicated Medicare choices, need help with insurance forms, or need an advocate to accompany you to doctor appointments? Do you need help with transportation or shopping?  Syntero, Inc., formerly Dublin Counseling Center, is a local non-profit agency that has been serving Dublin residents for 40 years. Thanks to generous funding from the City of Dublin, Syntero's senior supportive services have now been expanded and are available to Saint Brigid of Kildare parishioners in Dublin. Through the  Older  Adults Program, Syntero's services can also link seniors with personal or mental health counseling for stress, anxiety or depression (office or home visits).  There is no charge for these services.

If you are interested in learning more about the services available for yourself or a senior loved one, please contact Kim VanHuffel at  [email protected].

Help Needed: Funeral Ushers and Bereavement Luncheons

One of the most compassionate things we do as a Church is the care offered to families at the death of a loved one.  We do this in many ways but two places where help is needed is at the Mass of Resurrection and the Bereavement Luncheon.  For everything to go smoothly for the family we take care of all the details at Church.  Right now, we have a critical shortage of ushers for the service.  Ideally we would have two ushers for each service.  Now, we have only three total ushers and I am wearing them out.  We would like to have 6 to 8 so it would not be too burdensome for anyone.   You do not have to be an usher currently and you would only be an usher for funerals NOT for the weekend Masses.  You do have to stand a bit so take that into consideration.

The second area where help is needed is for the Bereavement Luncheon.  Judy Murcer is the coordinator of this ministry.  We have more than 100 people who graciously, time after time, donate food.  Thank you so much for that - and we are always more than happy to add to that number.  Where the help is needed is for the luncheon itself. You can come to set-up, serve or clean-up.  Some volunteers do only one of the three, and some do all three.  It is a time commitment for those who do all three.  They usually arrive about 9:00 am and stay until everything is all cleaned and put away (usually about 2:00 pm).   Others come to help with set-up or clean-up and are gone in about 1 ½ hours.

Please men and women, look to see if either being an usher or helping with the Bereavement Luncheon would be something you would like to do.  We would be very grateful.  If you have questions or would like to volunteer, please call Sister Teresa 614-761-3734.

Preschool Garden Party

The garden was central to the Religious Ed preschoolers' learning this year as they discovered the wonder of God's creation through hands-on learning in the garden with Papa Jack. To thank him for all the time he spent with them, the 3 and 4 year olds made him a tree with their handprints, which they presented at their closing ceremony. Thanks to Papa Jack for all his work!

2017-2018 HS Youth Ministry Sneak Peek
It is easy to compartmentalize who we are. At school, you are this person. At home, you are that person. On your team, you are another person. At church, you are someone else. In prayer, you are this way. In friendships, you are that way. But God calls us to wholeness. We are called to be entirely His...always. Imagine what life could be if we always remembered that we are loved and known by God and allowed that to guide us.  This coming year our ministry focus will be Identity Revealed. We will explore our identity in Christ, what it means to be known and loved by God, and how that can transform our lives if we allow it. Join us this coming school year as we learn and grow through discussion, scripture, theology of the body , guest speakers, service, prayer, and music in an effort to follow Christ, wholeheartedly.
