Special Olympics Track Meet needs volunteers
Special Olympics Track Meet | May 13 | Long Branch High School
The 2017 Monmouth-Ocean County Special Olympics Track and Field Meet will be held Saturday, May 13 at Long Branch High School.

We need at least 30 (preferably more) volunteers to help with escorting athletes, scoring, timing, awards and other tasks associated with the event. Volunteers should plan on being at the high school by 8:30 a.m. The meet is usually over by 2 or 3 p.m. If you can't be there by 8:30 or can't stay the entire time, that's fine. Just let us know ahead of time so we can be sure we have appropriate coverage.

Online registration for volunteers is now open. Please go to https://runsignup.com/jsrcspecialolympics to sign up. If you are coming with family or friends, please make sure everyone is signed up so we have an accurate count.

Parents - if your children require community service hours, this is an excellent opportunity for them. Please answer "yes" for the community service letter  question when you sign them up. That way we know whom to reach out to after the event.

If you have any questions, please contact Marianne Ploskonka.

Group Runs

Sunday
(Bodman & Ocean Grove) / Off and On at Bodman due to races in NY - but picking up Ocean Grove still going strong. Recently, attendance for both has been a bit light with active Sunday schedule but back to normal soon.

Bodman Park in Middletown 8:00 a.m.

Meet at Bodman Park just off Navesink River Road. Meet at the Clubhouse (Market Street, Middletown). Groups run from 6 to 22 miles mostly on trails through Hartshorne Woods Park & Huber Woods & the surrounding areas with scenic views. There are plenty of hills and it's a perfect run for marathon training. There are water stops and refreshments at the end. There is also the opportunity to walk on Sunday mornings. The distance is six miles and the start time is variable.
We need someone to be the point of contact for this long-standing group run and assist with placing & cleaning up refreshments stops. If interested, please contact the club President.

2017 TCS NYC Marathon Volunteers | November 5 | NYC
As we now know who will be running in the 2017 NYC Marathon, it is time for volunteers to sign on for our piece of the marathon day fun.
If you are not running, come out and join us for a great day of greeting the 50,000 finishers. At least 40 people are needed to work the Finish Area in Central Park. The club will provide transportation to and from NYC for all registered volunteers. This is great opportunity and is always a good time.

NYRR is considering a new spot for the JSRC. Although we may return to Cherry Hill, I have registered for the sponsor spotting and hospitality area. I expect this area to fill up faster than most. Even if we move to another area, I can have them transfer all JSRC volunteers together. We are signed up for the "early" or "half-day" shift:   "TCS Hospitality - Shift 1,"  so we won't have to work until 8 p.m.

Please sign up as soon as possible, so we can get into a good area.  Remember, you can always cancel (although we hope you don't) but once the area is closed you can not get in. They were pretty clear on that last year. So PLEASE sign up with the JSRC for this area, so we can show NYRR we are interested. Also, encourage your friends to register too-it's more fun that way.

If you want to volunteer,
If you're unsure of the commitment, please consider registering anyway...we cannot add volunteers after the deadline.
