AyeniMN Oncology Welcomes New Gynecologic Oncologist

Minnesota Oncology is pleased to announce the association of Tina A. Ayeni, M.D. with the practice of Gynecologic Oncology/Surgery at the Plymouth WestHealth Clinic. 

 

Dr. Ayeni joined Minnesota Oncology on May 1 from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center where she held the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology and Reproductive Medicine.  Read more.GoldenApple

MN Oncology Honored with MAND Golden Apple Award

Dietitians Heidi Ganzer, Dianne Piepenburg, and Tracie Swearingen accepted the MAND Golden Apple Award on behalf of Minnesota Oncology.

 

   
Minnesota Oncology was recently selected by the Minnesota Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (MAND) to be the recipient of the 2014 MAND Golden Apple Award. The Golden Apple Award is presented to an organization or individual that has made significant contributions to the profession of dietetics in Minnesota. MAND's Twin Cities Chapter nominated Minnesota Oncology and "convinced the Awards Committee by the glowing recommendations, that you would be a worthy recipient, due to your wonderful work on with cancer patients and dietetics," according to the award letter.

Minnesota Oncology Lab Manager Named to ASCP's

Melanoma Support Group Begins Meeting June 3


Minnesota Oncology, in collaboration with the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute, is now offering a new monthly support group for people diagnosed with melanoma. The group will be facilitated by health care professionals currently working directly with melanoma patients in our clinics.The group is primarily for patients with stage III and IV melanoma and their families/support people, but everyone is welcome. 
The group will meet the first Tuesday of every month from 7-8:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday, June 3 in the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute conference room on the second floor of the Fridley Medical Center. There is no cost and registration is not required. Learn more...SkinCancerMonth

Hope in Motion will take place on June 1, 2014, at Normandale Lake Park in Bloomington, MN. Patients Discover Meaning Through Scrapbooking

    

About 30 cancer patients and survivors gathered at Shepard of the Valley Lutheran Church in Apple Valley on Saturday, April 12 to document their cancer journeys through scrapbooking. The event, "Scrapbook for Meaning," is organized twice a year by Chara Anderson, a member of Shepard of the Valley and a certified nurse practitioner at Minnesota Oncology's Minneapolis clinic.

Angel Foundation: The Magic of Kids Kamp

 

Angel Foundation's Kids Kamp, free to children of parents facing cancer, truly makes a difference in the lives of campers and their families. It is a joy and our privilege to witness the transformation each year. The magic will return June 12-14 at Eden Wood Center in Eden Prairie.
