Greetings!
Hello again, and welcome to the May Newsletter! We are just winding down from another fabulous concert. Thank you very much to everyone that made this fantastic event possible - The Bothwell Arts Center (for hosting), Stellina Sweets (for the yummy treats), all of the talented students and staff that participated, and of course the supportive friends and family members that made up the largest audience yet! We had an all-time record of 50 performances in the recital portion, and 28 in the showcase section, clocking in at about 4 hours of live, local music! What a wonderful, memorable afternoon. 2013 Summer Workshops
Our week-long group courses are a great way to explore a new musical instrument this Summer, or to expand upon the knowledge already learned in private lessons or school music programs. Although absolute beginners are welcome in most classes, each course is specifically designed to offer fun, new musical opportunities and experiences to students with some experience, or those that are starting from scratch. All courses are held at Music Time Academy and open to the general public, with discounted rates available to current private lessons students. Classes begin at 11am, Mon-Fri.

Student of the Month
Congratulations to Katherine Meezan!

"Katherine is by far one of the most enthusiastic students I have ever taught," says Chris Mahon, Katherine's guitar instructor. "Students like her are why I teach." Brand new to guitar at the start of her lessons with Chris in 2012, Katherine quickly learned the basics of the instrument. An exceptionally enthusiastic student, she asked Chris if he could help her learn how to compose music. She then came to her next lesson with a band new self-composed song, "Sour Apples." Music Time Academy was proud to host the debut performance of her piece at the Spring Recital.

Teacher Feature
For May, we would like to highlight an instructor that has been on staff at Music Time since early 2011, Timothy Garry (AKA "Timmy G"). Tim has been singing and playing guitar for over 25 years in many settings - live bands, theater, school, even as a singing waiter! An extremely eclectic musician,
his musical projects contain influences ranging from Rock, Jazz, Latin, Opera, and traditional Irish and Celtic genres. Tim has a passion for teaching and passing on his experience to the next generation. We are also excited to announce that he will be the lead instructor for our Summer Workshops - more info at: http://www.musictimeacademy.com/mt-summer2013.html
Multi-lingual as well as multi-instrumental, Tim speaks Spanish, Italian, and German. Don't believe us? Go up and say something to him! He instructs students at Music Time on Guitar, Voice, Bass, Mandolin, Ukulele, Banjo, Piano, Drums and also heads our Thursday Night Jams (rock band class) as well as our Monday after-school rock band program for elementary students at Arroyo Seco.
