Connect With Us

May greetings!

In (very) big news last month I reported that there was a dove nesting on my fire escape. Well, now there are four -- mama dove, poppa dove and two baby dovelings!

It's been a great month at Art & Soul Acting, as well. Many thanks to all of the attendees at the recent Book Club for Actors meetings focusing on the works of Amy Herzog. Those were some compelling conversations! The next playwright that we will be focusing on is announced below. Join us and make play reading fun.

And if you're looking for an acting class to ground your technique and inspire your soul, join us each Wednesday night for my  Drop-In Acting Class.

Are you on Twitter and have been wondering where I've been...I'm back! And it is so good to be back and connect with my acting friends from all over the world. You can catch me there tweeting acting tips and more. If you are on my email list and I'm not yet following you, be sure to say hello so I know to follow back. You can find me at @ArtNSoulActing.

This past month I had the joy to perform my solo show,  Rhonda Badonda: The Adventures of a Girl with a Pain in Her Brain, for a group of people who are doing some truly mind blowing work in the world of healing.  Here I am during a panel discussion at the Postural Restoration Institute's symposium on healing through sound.

It was an honor to share my own story of healing through sound and connect with so many insightful attendees through the process. This event truly exemplified for me the power of the theatre to heal and create change.

Wishing you much joy on the journey this month!

BOOK THAT JOB BLOG
Delve deeper into the craft and business of acting with articles that break it all down and build you up.

Are you memorizing your lines like your reading them off the inside of your mind? Here's how to break that limiting habit (and others) and get some real acting returns for your line memorization investment.

FEATURED ARTICLE:

Why Doesn't Anybody Talk About the Importance of Line Memorization?

by Rhonda S. Musak

Line memorization in terms of acting technique does not get a lot of play. Thinking about the myriad of acting books that I have read, I cannot recall it ever having been mentioned. Maybe that's because everybody figures you just have to memorize the lines in order to do scripted work-plain and simple...get 'er done.

But behind the scenes I hear a slightly different story as a coach. Many actors are actually greatly challenged by memorizing lines and would love to find better and easier ways to make that part of the job more efficient-and at the very least, more effective...
