Our PTAC Summer Camp Staff was the most critical ingredient in our ability to deliver Scout Summer Camp to over 5,000 Scouts. This past summer our campers earned over 10,000 merit badges, made friends, built lasting memories, and had unforgettable adventures. We are aiming to build on this great success in 2017 and to do so we need the finest summer camp staff talent available.

National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award Nominations Open
|
ATTENTION ANYONE WHO KNOWS AN EAGLE SCOUT! The PTAC NESA Committee is asking all of you to think of someone who might be worthy of receiving the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (OESA). There are three requirements:
1) They must have obtained the rank of Eagle Scout.
2) They must live within the the PTAC area
3) They must be an outstanding member within their profession.
Please note: The OESA is not awarded to people for their involvement in scouting, it is given purely based on their vocational and/or community accomplishments OUTSIDE of scouting. This allows us the ability to not only honor the exemplary professionals in our council but also provides our new Eagle Scouts with potential role models. Whether you know a well published theoretical physicist or a virtuoso pianist, we want to hear about them!
To nominate a potential OESA awardee please do the following:

Hyde Park student gains steam on 'MasterChef Junior'
by Morgan Greene - Chicago Tribune
|
Evan Robinson can talk your ear off about the culinary arts. He's experimenting with molecular gastronomy. He's friendly with Gordon Ramsay. He celebrated his birthday in the prep kitchen of Roister, Grant Achatz's Michelin-starred restaurant in the West Loop, and tasted one chef's foie gras candy bar creation.
He's also 11.
Evan, a precocious South Loop Elementary School student with a big toothy smile, is a top-12 competitor on this season of "MasterChef Junior," along with Avani Shah of River North. There were originally five Chicago-area competitors on the kid-sized version of the Fox reality show that pits cooks against one another for a chance at a $100,000 prize and title of "MasterChef Junior."

Jim Donovan and his son spent Saturday doing a bit of spring cleaning along the Fox River.
"This is where we live, and it's like taking care of your own house on a larger scale," said Donovan, 52, of Aurora, of the work he and Patrick, 18, were doing.
They were just two of the hundreds of volunteers who came together for Aurora's Community-Wide Service Day project organized by the Fox Valley Park District. The Donovans represented Aurora Scout Troop 53, and were joined by students from Aurora University and Waubonsee Community College, the Kiwanis Club of Aurora and many other groups.
