Happy May Day!
It is an antiquated tradition now, but I fondly remember my mom helping me
leave "May Day" flowers on my neighbors' doorsteps
on the 1st of May each year as a child. This warm memory reminds me how fortunate I am to have grown up in a safe, loving home.
Sadly, our Street's Hope ladies often carry more trauma, than happy memories from their childhood. The harsh reality is that nearly every resident at Street's Hope experienced
victimization in her childhood
.
With Mother's Day fast approaching, this can be a difficult time of year for our ladies. They might be grieving the loss of their own mom, challenging memories may resurface or they may be missing their own children. Please consider encouraging our residents by sending Mother's Day cards to our PO Box. (Note: We have 10 residents, but not all our mothers, so please write them in a general manner.) As always, thank you for your dedicated support and tremendous care for our organization and the resilient survivors we serve.
Warmly,
Peg Theobald
