Spring is in full swing, as are changes at Aldersgate! Take a peek.
Regards from Rick
With two months left of a nine month assignment, life at Aldersgate is beginning to wind down for Pam and me. My work as an interim pastor is always a mixed blessing. We have the privilege of meeting and becoming friends with such wonderful people—you! But then we must move away so that a new pastor can step in and begin effective ministry with all of you. It brings joy and celebration to see the way you as Aldersgate faith-family have grown and changed during our time together. It also brings sadness for Pam and me to stop such a wonderful journey. But we know that you will continue to grow forward!

Having said that, here is the way the weeks of the next two months are being planned as we begin the transition to summer-time and pastoral leadership:

The week of April 30-May 4 Rick will be teaching at the Native American Course of Study in Shiprock, North Dakota.

Native American Course of Study Article
Take a look at this informative article about the Native American Course of Study! You may recognize Rev. Fred Shaw, as he visited Aldersgate a few weeks ago. The article also discusses the school at which Pastor Rick is teaching at this week. The class is being held in North Dakota at the Spirit Lake Reservation.

"Norman Mark (left) and the Rev. Fred Shaw, director of the Native American Course of Study, talk about why it is important for Native pastors to blend traditional language and culture in ministry."

Sign up on the form provided and indicate the class time you would like to attend. Tri-State CC will also reward you with an official Sanctuary sign for your plot.

On Saturday, May 5, 2018, Warrick County Young Life is hosting the Sunshine in Motion 5K Fun Run/Walk honoring Davis Collier. The 5K will begin and end at the Old Lock and Dam at the Newburgh Riverfront and travel a flat, out and back course heading east along the river. The race is open to everyone. Strollers and wheelchairs welcome. Registration is at 8:15 am and the race starts at 9 am. Register online at prior to the race or in person on the morning of the race. For those who have not yet registered, race t-shirts will be available on a first come, first serve basis on the day of the race. For those who previously registered, t-shirts will be available for pick up at the Refinery on Friday, May 4th from 7-9 pm. All proceeds from the run will benefit the Warrick County Young Life Camp Scholarship Fund. Davis Collier, who left this world tragically on January 13, 2018, was an active member in Warrick County Young Life as well as her church youth group, prioritizing her faith above all else. Her family hopes that through the proceeds raised by the run, other teens will attend Young Life summer camp and grow strong in their faith just as Davis did. In addition, her family hopes that having members of the community come together to help them cross her finish line here on earth will be a reminder of Davis' starting point into eternal life and will encourage others to find the light within their own faith.
