Educators at East Aurora School District kick off the school year with Mayor Irvin
THERE IS LIFE-TRANSFORMING TEACHING HAPPENING HERE : May 7 - 11 is National Teacher Appreciation Week. We salute all of our teachers and educators in Aurora for their tireless efforts to educate and empower our children. Mayor Irvin has visited more than 30 schools where he has met some of the most dedicated and motivated teachers. On Sunday, May 6, Mayor Irvin received a Doctor of Humane Letters from Aurora University. During his acceptance speech, the mayor thanked the educators who believed in him - from elementary school through law school - and made it possible for him to achieve his dreams.

As the National PTA reminds us: Teachers give us so much. A boost of confidence when we really need one. Extra help when we’re having trouble. A welcoming presence when everything else seems out of control. And though we know we can’t ever thank them enough, we can take a moment during National Teacher Appreciation Week to share our appreciation for the amazing educators in our lives.
