ALUMNI SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY
The Alumni Board donated $780 to McDonogh's annual, all-school Holiday Project on behalf of the entire alumni community. This year due to the pandemic, rather than purchasing and wrapping gifts for the 116 families (including 392 children) gift cards were distributed to the families through St. Gregory the Great Church in Baltimore. Since the Holiday Project began in 1990, McDonogh has supported more than 3,800 families in need.

Additionally, the Alumni Association Outreach Committee hosted a series of virtual fitness events in December that encouraged attendees to get fit while benefiting the Baltimore community. Alumni from across the country participated, raising over $200 for the Maryland Food Bank and Community Crisis Center. Thanks to Niela Magwood-Phoenix ’96 for her yoga instruction, Katye McNulty Jorgensen ’07 for teaching a Pure Barre class, and Sophie Alecce ’16 for leading a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout!
COVID TESTING SHOWS COMMITMENT TO SAFETY
McDonogh continues to take steps to ensure we have the greatest possible chance for safe, on-campus education for our students. The School contracted with local Avalon Laboratory Solutions to provide on-campus PCR testing for all students, faculty, and staff so they could safely return to campus following the winter break. McDonogh also purchased CareStart lateral flow rapid antigen tests to conduct surveillance testing for 25% of older students and adults on campus each week.
MIDDLE SCHOOL BUILDING NEARLY COMPLETE
It’s hard to believe construction on the Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Middle School is almost finished! A lot has been accomplished over the last several months and, barring any weather-related delays, students and teachers will be able to enter the new building after spring break. Enjoy this guided tour with Chief Operating Officer Pete Welch and Trustee Michael Greenebaum, whose lead gift on behalf of the Stewart and Marlene Greenebaum Family Foundation helped to make the new Middle School a reality.
SHARE YOUR NEWS

Please submit your news online by Saturday, May 15. Photos will be published based on quality and available space. Please be sure to identify everyone pictured. To be eligible, a student must have completed the first year of medical school. Scholarships are granted for one year and may be renewed twice, providing for three successive years of scholarship support. For more information and to apply by September 1, 2021, click here.
