Political contributions are not deductible as charitable donations for federal income tax purposes. Contributions from corporations and foreign nationals are prohibited. Federal law requires political committees to use their best efforts to report the name, mailing address, occupation and employer for each individual whose contributions aggregate in excess of $200 in an election cycle. Corporate contributions are prohibited. Individuals can give $2,500 to the primary and $2,500 to the general election. A couple can give $5,0000 to the primary and $5,000 to the general election. Qualified federal PACS may contribute $5,000 per election and non-qualified federal PACS may contribute $2,500 per election.
