Connecting the Dots
with Shawn Young

from left to right- Marti Sommer Crawford, Ginny Gaetz Murphy, Beverly Taylor Ueble,Janet Cappel Parrot, Marlene McDole Schmidt, Bonnie Jones Biller, Eileen Murray, Gayle David Wells, Patti Donoghue Scott, Susan Mullen Kies, and Mary Ann Kolar Feige

In this edition of Connecting the Dots, we get to meet the girls of 1961. When the opportunity to meet with fellow graduates arises, I am always interested to know if they still get together outside of reunions and what holds them all together.  About a month ago, the Class of '61 gathered in the library for a reunion planning meeting. We were all telling stories from "back in the day", I mentioned how the guys I ran with, are still getting together 30 years later. Their story was a little different, but they did decide to share. Of course they all had different groups of friends in high school- you ran with the people you went to grade school with. I am sure many of us can relate to that.  But at the 50th class reunion, the girls of '61 decided it was time to get together more often, proving it is never too late to get reacquainted.  They decided that they would meet the second Wednesday of the month, and travel around to different locations. Alumni Co-Ed Sand Volleyball is now Forming a league
The McNicholas Alumni Association is proud to announce the establishment of  a  Co-Ed Alumni sand volleyball league.  The league will be on Thursday nights at Setters, located next to Cherry Grove Lanes (Home of the Alumni Bowling league).  The cost of the league is $68/person and will include an 8 week season followed by a tournament.  We will be establishing a 6's C- League.  You must have a minimum of 4 people on your roster.  Your team must be composed of at least 50% girls and alumni.  At this point we have room for 8 teams, so you will need to act quickly to reserve your spot. We do have a possibility of establishing 2 leagues if we have enough interest.  If you are interested in securing a spot, please contact   Ashley Clark Brothers  '01.  League play starts June 30, all teams must be formed by June 10.
Annual Fund Update
The Alumni of McNicholas High School have been a major factor in making the 2015-16 school year such a great success. You have returned to the McNicholas Campus in record numbers, for reunions, sporting events, and many other events. Your financial support through your gifts to the Annual Fund, Alumni Scholarship, and McNick at Night have been outstanding. You truly are continuing to help enhance the tremendous spirit that exists at McNicholas today. All of us at McNicholas want to thank you for your great gifts.
Just like Joe Nuxall , the Cincinnati Reds legend, would say at the end of his broadcasts, "we are rounding third and heading for home." As we "head for home" with this school year, we still have a little bit of work to finish to reach our Annual Fund goal of $155,000. If you have not had a chance to participate in this year's Annual Fund and would like to help, you can do it in one of two ways. First, you can simply click here, or you can send a donation to us at school. Just make your check payable to McNicholas High School and send it the following address

McNicholas High School
6536 Beechmont Avenue
Cincinnati, Ohio 45230

Thank you again for all you have done for McNicholas High School. Be assured we are working very hard already to make the 2016-17 school year even more exciting for all of us.

Event Planned For Alumni Brad Giesting '04
A "bash for Brad's b-day" is planned for Saturday, July 23 at McNicholas.  This is the second annual birthday bash for Brad! Brad, class of '04, and a US Army veteran of the Iraq War returned home after his service to Cincinnati, where he and his wife Annie '05 are raising their 2 children.  Several years ago Brad was diagnosed with cancer and has been fighting it.  Most recently, he was in an experimental drug program at OSU.  While Brad was seeing positive results, the drug company decided to terminate the trial.  After a social media campaign went viral, Brad now has access to the drug, and OSU is administering it!

This event is a fund raiser to help offset the mounting medical expenses.  Beer and wine will be for sale.  There will be large raffle items, a raffle of various baskets, as well as several events and other games with great prizes. Music will be provided by Cereal Killers. The event runs from 8:00 pm to midnight in the Main Gym.

So SAVE THE DATE!!

Questions, or to donate to the raffle or help out, e-mail Angela at angela.kramer11@gmail.com, or Jim at jhay279786@aol.com.

Sarah Huber '00 CFO for FC Cincinnati
There's a sense of ceremony that accompanies the start of every game in the USL. From the gathering crowds in local bars and restaurants, to the tailgate parties and supporter's march to the match, to the player's arrival and preparation that leads up to kickoff, everyone - from fan to coach to player alike - has their own traditions or rituals.
For FC Cincinnati Chief Financial Officer Sarah Huber '00, there's one particular part of the buildup to a game that stands out.
"I think my favorite part of the ceremonial piece is when the players walk out onto the field," Huber said recently. "It's so fun to see the stands react. Our supporters groups, they sit in a section called 'The Bailey', and they go nuts. It's setting a really cool tone, and I think it's really fun for the players to feel the support from the fans and the city."

Updating our list of the Deceased
Once again, we are trying to honor all of our alumni who are now wearing green in heaven, by updating our records! We will make this appeal two times a year, Memorial Day, and All Saints Day. To date, we have nearly 700 graduates that we know of who are no longer with us, but they are not forgotten.  We have built this website to honor their memory. Their names will also be inscribed  in our Book of the Dead, which will be located in our chapel, so that we can offer up prayers during our Friday morning Masses.  We have collected the dates of passing for over 90% of our graduates, but we do not have dates for everyone that has passed. If you know the date of a deceased alumni, please let us know so that we can update our records. Please click on this link to check our current records.  If you can make an update please contact
