E3 | EXCEEDING EVERY EXPECTATION!

This is a four-day school week for our students as we are nearly at the end of the third quarter of   2016-2017 There is no school on Friday, March 17 (teacher workday) and the entire campus will be closed the week of March 20-24 for spring break. Classes will resume on schedule Monday, March 27.

We encourage all of our students and parents to visit ProgressBook online to make very sure that all assignments are current before the teachers finish with report cards. Please do this as soon as possible.

This is also the very last week for the 2017 parent survey. We depend on the results from this survey each year to help guide us in our continuing school improvement efforts. Please, if you still have not completed this survey and have a student at Meadowbrook, take a few minutes this week to do so.

Meadowbrook Mustangs visit their future home . . . Trojan Land

Forty eighth graders recently visited Evans High School, home of the Trojans. The students gleaned a plethora of information while visiting their future home as ninth graders.

The students enjoyed a full, school-wide tour. They paid close attention to what was being said (right) in a panel discussion that involved several students from Evans. "Work hard. Stay focused and find at least one organization to be a part of" was a comment shared by one of the Evans students.

At the conclusion of the panel discussion, eighth graders (alert and attentive) asked numerous questions of the high school students. "What clubs and organizations do you all have?" was one of the questions posed. At least 15 or more clubs/organizations were named.

Students were truly impressed with the overall tour and all that Evans has to offer. "I know that our students will be in good hands when they leave us" said Dr. Saunders, Administrative Dean.

* Kudos to Mr. Wheeler, City Year members (Evans and Meadowbrook), and the students from Evans for helping to make the event a huge success.

Which Fork Do We Really Use?

This was the question asked by several girls from the "Brook" at the Etiquette Workshop held this past week. The workshop was held at Meadowbrook for girls that are members of the TULIPS and FYV (Find Your Voice) girls clubs.

During the workshop, girls were taught proper table etiquette. They learned various etiquette tips such as: food should always be passed to the left, cell phones should never be utilized at a dinner table, and conversational tones are a must at dinner. Additionally, the girls were taught place settings such as where various eating utensils, glasses, and cups should be placed.

The workshop was the first of a three-part training session. Kudos to Dr. Saunders and Veronica Nealy-Harris for organizing the workshop. Also, a special thank you to the following staff members that attended the event: Principal Brown, Asst. Principal Jackson, Ms. Saintil, Mrs. Davis, Ms. Griffin-Simmons, and Dean Williams.
