Earlier this week, Day One Studios announced they were hard at work returning to their roots by bringing us another 'mech game. The makers of the award winning MechAssault series have been toiling in secret. They've heard us fans. And, they are striving to scratch our 'mech itch by crafting the custom tailored game that we've been waiting for-introducing: REIGN OF THUNDER.
Like the other games previously announced this year, it's going to be initially released as a PC Free-to-Play game. But the difference here is Day One's openly admitted desire to design a game that not only appeals to us MA fans; but, they actively want our participation and feedback as well. Better yet, they want us to be playing 'our' game while they're doing it. (See Beta Announcement in the right hand column).
In the end, you don't have to look far to see the Day One's passion and the open willingness to work with us, the fans. Read some of the articles on the first page of the RoT's main page, and when you're finished there, go ahead and open up the forums.
Because in their forums, is where the magic is happening. MechAssault fans of years past are writing and sharing their opinions, and Day One is answering and implementing them. This is the way video game development should be done. If you want a say in the matter--you need to register. Otherwise, you cannot complain if this turns out to be something you don't want.
Even if the PC free-to-play initial release is a problem for you, you owe it to yourself to spread the word to your friends and state your opinion. For, if enough of us do this, the long term success of this franchise will be assured, and we will see it come back home to where it all began, on the console. And when it does, it will be a game you had a hand in creating. How cool is that?
Lastly, I too appreciate feedback. If you've found this email helpful, then please let me know by posting a message on my:
