Serenity Renewal for Families
March, 28, 2013
Greetings!

Serenity Renewal for Families, a small organization making a big difference, is reaching out for support from the community it has served for 30 years.
CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF HOPE
Diamond Jubiliee Medals
In early 1983, two women working in two northern Ontario cities spoke to each other by telephone, excited and inspired by the canonization of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys, founder of the Congregation of Notre Dame and Canada's first woman saint. Sister Louise Dunn, CND, and Alexa Smith, with the generous support of the CND sisters, set about showing all who turned to them how to come to terms with the pain, loneliness, guilt, grief and broken dreams that feed the cycle of addiction. Serenity Renewal For Families opened its doors to Ottawans in need.

30 years later Serenity Renewal For Families continues to provide hope and valuable services to those afflicted by addiction in Ottawa and support to their families. They provide counselling and programs which bridge the perilous gap between rehab and family, school and work life and help to prevent relapse. Serenity Renewal for Families is taking a proactive approach in helping young members of the community who are at particular risk of falling victim to addiction and other mental health issues.

The Congregation of Notre Dame has been unable to continue funding, which puts many of the programs and services offered by Serenity Renewal in jeopardy. The organization is looking for community support, so that they can continue supporting the community.

The 2013 fundraising campaign kicks off at a breakfast Wednesday April 3rd at 7:30 AM. All members of the community and media are welcome both to celebrate 30 years of service and create further awareness of the vitally important programs offered by Serenity Renewal for Families.
