7 libraries to close Feb. 17 for staff training

SARASOTA COUNTY - Seven Sarasota County libraries will be closed Friday, Feb. 17, while employees participate in staff development training and welcome colleagues from throughout Florida who are traveling to Sarasota to engage in a variety of learning opportunities.

Two libraries will remain open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day: Fruitville Public Library, 100 Coburn Road, Sarasota; and Jacaranda Public Library, 4143 Woodmere Park Blvd., Venice.

Outdoor book return service will be available at all nine county libraries, and the county's library website, scgov.net/library, is always available 24 hours a day. All libraries will resume normal operating hours at 10 a.m. Feb. 18.

" We have more than 150 staff members serving our library locations throughout the county," said Sarabeth Kalajian, Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources director.  "Bringing them together for a day devoted to learning is the best way to ensure they have access to the latest information on technologies, programs and policies, allowing us to provide the excellent service our residents expect from their public libraries."
