At the age of 12, a subscription to National Geographic magazine sparked Sarah's love for all things related to photography and led to many adventures, as well as a few follies.

Sarah works as a photographer and writer in North Alabama and has photographed for numerous national brands including Southern Living, Cooking Light and Pillsbury.  She also writes for several local magazines and is a regular contributor to the popular food blog Huntsville Eats, as well as a craft beer blogger for iHeartHsv.

Keep up with her food adventures (and follies) at The Jealous Crumpet and see more of her food photography at S. Belanger Photography.

Eve Kofsky and Roger Strauss
Atlanta, GA

Eve Kofsky and Roger Strauss had a problem.  Long-time married employees of CNN, they sat in Atlanta traffic every Friday afternoon for long amounts of time.  To avoid the traffic, a solution was hatched:  date nights every Friday.  And so the award-winning Friday Date Night blog was born.  Almost four years later, the magic continues with nearly 200 blog entries at  www.fridaydatenight.me.

The concept is simple--visit a different restaurant every week.  The restaurant doesn't know we are coming and we don't tell them who we are, although we do photograph everything that gets delivered to our table, which at times might look suspicious.  They have one chance to knock our socks off.  Most succeed, but of course there are failures.  We go for a variety of foods at different price points.  From pizza to fancy French food, we have probably written a blog entry.

We have both recently retired from CNN, which brings up a new set of challenges for Date Night.  Now we have to leave our house on Fridays and fight the traffic to get to the restaurants we choose.  It's exactly the opposite of the situation when we were working.

In the last few months, we have added video to our written blogs on our Tastemade feed at www.tastemade.com/@fridaydatenight.  Tastemade videos are easy to make, and for two ex-television directors, it allows us to act like we are still working.

We are very excited to be coming to Florence for Restaurant Week.  We were fortunate enough to visit Florence for the Southern Tandem Rally in 2010, where we rode our tandem bicycle for three days.  You might see us pedaling on our bike while we are visiting.  It's the best way we have found to burn off the calories we consume during our travels.
Christi Britten
Florence, AL

Florence Foodie, Christi Britten, is always looking for balance. This mom to four is communications manager for Florence-Lauderdale Public Library and photographer (especially of food). When she is not eating out at local restaurants looking for the best dishes for the best price, she is trying to create something tasty and healthy to feed her kids. Her job at the library gives her the perk of photographing food for Bookmarks Coffee Shop.

"If I can illustrate that satisfying feeling of having that best cup of coffee in the morning then I have communicated all they need to know. Food is about experience. How does it look, how does it taste, how does it make me feel, and how does it nourish me? Words and photos can do lip-service but the real experience is golden."
