We restore hope...one family at a time. June 27, 2016

It's officially summer and it's going to be a HOT one! We can certainly tell by the heat wave we've already experienced.

When you're out having your summer fun, be sure to keep your water bottle handy. T ake care of yourself and your loved ones by staying hydrated!

It may be a no-brainer to drink water, but too many of us actually forget or we think we are getting enough fluids.

Drinking sodas or energy drinks won't keep you hydrated. They can actually be counterproductive. Drinking water is always the best, there's no getting around it.

It takes responsibility to care for yourself, and when you care for yourself, you open up your whole world to caring for others. How will you show responsibility this summer in caring for yourself?
In observance of Independence Day, our office will be closed on Monday, July 4th
We Hate To Say Goodbye...

We want to wish Carolyn Hambelton, our Central Office Receptionist, GOOD LUCK in her new job!

Carolyn had accepted a new part-time position with another company and her last day was June 15.

She has been with us since February 2015. Her winning personality has earned her many friends with the staff and consumers of Restoring Hope.

We are certainly going to miss her cheerful smile and contagious laugh!

Although we are proud of her and wish her all the best, she will be sorely missed.

Exceptional Bookwork Award

Charity Yardley, you're the WINNER of May 2016's Exceptional Bookwork Award! Charity's name was drawn from a list of those nominated by their Program Managers for excellent bookwork. Charity will receive a special gift card, compliments of Restoring Hope.

Congratulations to Charity and all nominees. Keep up the good work!

Restoring Hope
One Individual At A Time

Our mission is simple, to support individuals with disabilities by encouraging and assisting them to accomplish their health, fitness, and personal goals and have a sense of belonging in their home and community. Every day we hear wonderful stories in all our regions of how our consumers are blossoming and growing. These individuals inspire us in their journey and we are blessed to be a part of their lives.

One such individual that we are so proud of is *Hope. Although Hope isn't familiar with the name "Restoring Hope," she cannot say enough good things about her care givers. She has made a wonderful transformation over the past year and half. She doesn't share much about the past, she loves to talk about what she has learned, her hobbies that she enjoys so much, and her bright future.

Meet Hope...

This vivacious 20-year-old enjoys a variety of hobbies, friends, and routines that make up her daily life. One hobby is crocheting. She has crocheted four baby blankets, several baby outfits, a headband, and even the straps to her flip flops!

Her creativity does not stop there. She's a musician. She says she plays the guitar, piano, and saxophone, plus a few other instruments. She even writes her own "heartbroken" style country songs.

Drawing, sketching, and coloring are some of her other favorite pastimes. She states that once she starts a drawing, she will not stop until it is finished.

She thoroughly enjoys reading and is going through a stack of new and classic books, all at the same time! Her current reads include The Princess Diaries, Twilight, The Dragon Series, Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul, The Power of Praying and The Bible. She says Jeremiah 29:11 is her favorite verse right now: "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."

Besides being extremely productive in her hobbies, movies, hanging out with friends, and Friday trips to the library are activities that make up her week. Perhaps her favorite job is helping with the puppies at her home. Taking on the tasks of cleaning up after the little puppies and caring for them is a special highlight of her week.

Hope states she is very thankful for the opportunity she's been given and says her care givers are awesome and kind. She has a message for teens: "stay in school and stay safe." With that sage advice, it was time to close the interview so she could find some ice cream. Her favorite is Rocky Road or NY Cheesecake Blizzards!

Providing opportunities to consumers like Hope is just a small portion of what we do here at Restoring Hope. Each individual is important and by taking the time to highlight Hope, we are reminded why our mission is so worthwhile.
