Meet Jaymhen. Jaymhen is ten-years-old and suffers from two very rare genetic disorders: Pfeiffer syndrome, which prevents the skull from growing, and Kleeblattschadel syndrome, also known as "cloverleaf skull." There's no treatment available in his hometown of Reno, so he needs to travel to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital for specialty care. Lengthy hospitalizations have drained the family's resource and with just one parent working, it's a continual struggle. That's where Angel Flight West excels - Jaymhen took his first flight with us in May of 2014 and a second one in July. AFW stands ready for his next trip!
Angel Flight West is a grass roots, volunteer driven, non-profit. We are based at the Santa Monica Airport, and we work with a growing list of awesome pilots who volunteer their time and airplanes to fly sick patients to treatment. Currently, 1/3 of our patients are children, we want to help more.
