Three Generations of Peterborough Paddlers
For the second year in a row, a Peterborough family will have three generations of paddlers in our Dragon Boat Festival. In 2016, Glenn Goodwin and his daughter Ragna, both long-time participants on “The Eau Naturals,” were joined by Glenn’s grandson Kaden, 15. Now his younger brother, Ian, is following in his footsteps: Ian turns 14 on June 3, just in time to join the team!
Glenn has been involved since 2002, and has paddled with "The Eau Naturals" for 15 years. He says his career with the Ontario public service has shown him why the Dragon Boat Festival is an important event in support of breast cancer care in the Peterborough area. “All of us got to know many women who have had to fight this dreadful disease,” says Glenn. “For us, it is not about winning a race. We had the honour of having the mother of one of our paddlers, who was a survivor herself, paddle with us. It was an emotional day for all of us.”

At the end of the day, Glenn says, the Festival is all about the cause. “It is amazing to talk to those who have utilized the facilities here in Peterborough made possible by this Festival. If our efforts contribute to saving one life, it was worth it.”
