Candidate for Director At Large

Lori Kaczmarek, RN, BSN, VA-BC
This is such an exciting time to be actively involved with such a diverse and energetic organization as AVA!  In past leadership roles with the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) and as past President of our local chapter the Greater Milwaukee Area Chapter-AACN (GMAC-AACN), I’ve had the privilege of serving with like-minded Registered Nurses in the field of Critical Care and Cardiovascular Nursing.  I now look forward to the opportunity to serve as Director-at-Large for AVA where such a diverse group of Registered Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Advanced Practice Providers, Physicians, Industry Partners, Radiologists, Attorney’s and more come together to advance the science and practice of Vascular Access.
I accepted a position on our PICC team 6 years ago and knew I found my niche!  Today I am the Director of this now 30 and growing Vascular Access Team (VAT) of RN’s.  In response to changes in health care and systems within our community, our own team has begun to change our model of practice to become a comprehensive, multi-site VAT.  We are challenged daily to demonstrate our skill and expertise in multiple areas of practice including acute care, sub-acute care and long-term care.
In a similar way, I see AVA changing and becoming a regarded organization and a valued resource for Vascular Access Clinicians internationally.  I welcome the opportunity to be a part of the leadership team and contribute my past and present leadership and administrative skills to service the AVA Board of Directors and you its membership.
