Expanded Weekend & Columbus Day Hours

Expanded weekend hours at both library locations have resumed! The main library is open on Sundays from 1 - 5 PM and the Beverly Farms branch is now open Saturdays from 10 AM - 5 PM. The Farms branch is always closed on Sunday. Expanded weekend hours will continue until Memorial Day 2017. Additionally, both library locations will be closed on Monday, October 10, 2016 for the Columbus Day holiday.

Save the Date: Fall Book Sale
 
Our annual 9-day Friends' Fall Book Sale begins Saturday, October 22 and runs through Sunday, October 30. Come stock up on your reading for the long winter ahead! This huge sale fills two rooms on our ground floor. All sale proceeds benefit the library.  The sale will be open daily during  regular library hours . Get prices, info on donating, and all other details  here
Membership Has its Privileges: Book Sale Preview
 
Members of the Friends are invited to a preview of the annual Friends’ Fall Book Sale on Friday, October 21 from 6 - 8 PM. Not yet a member of the Friends? You can join (or renew!) at the door. Memberships start at $15—cash and personal checks accepted. It’s a great chance to browse and socialize in a relaxed, family-friendly setting. Refreshments will be available. Questions? College Night at the Friends' Fall Book Sale

College students! Come to our special "College Night" at the Beverly Public Library Fall Book Sale on Thursday, October 27. Show your college I. Calling All Celtics & NBA Fans! 

Meet Celtics Legend JoJo White
Thursday, November 10 from 7 - 8:30 PM
Sohier Room, Main Library
Kids, teens, and adults are invited to meet Celtics legend JoJo White and his biographer Mark Bodanza, author of Make it Count: The Life and Times of Basketball Great JoJo WhiteWhite, whose #10 was retired by the Boston Celtics in 1982, is a 7-time NBA All-Star, 2-time NBA Champion, the MVP of the 1976 NBA Finals, and a 2015 Hall of Fame inductee. In addition to White’s basketball career, this free program will also address the racial and political tumult of the era in which he played. Read all the details here

Riley ROCKS! Endowment Fund

In July 2016, 9-year-old Riley Fessenden of Beverly, MA lost a 3-year battle with a rare form of cancer. With Riley ROCKS, this courageous young lady created a movement of love, caring, and support with thousands of people in her hometown, beginning when she was first diagnosed at the age of 6. Join the New England Mobile Book Fair in their effort to create the Riley ROCKS Endowment for the purchase of children's books at the Beverly Public Library. Read more here.

Story times are in session and will run through the week of October 30. And consider joining us for the following October programs:
  • "What’s In That House?: Halloween Tales” by Tony Toledo: Saturday, October 15 at 3 PM. Tony will tell tales full of just enough scary and more than enough funny.
  • Musical Mornings with Miz Liz (age 0 - 5): Saturday, October 8 at 10 AM
  • Lego Club (K - 5): Thursday, October 13 from 3:30 - 4:30 PM
  • Science Squad (grades 1 - 5): Thursday, October 27 at 3:30 PM
  • A Little Night Music and Rhyme (Formerly Music and Mother Goose) (for kids and families under 5 - or so): Mondays at 6:30 PM (will not meet Monday, October 10)

Teen Happenings

Summer Reading Art Opening
Thursday, Oct. 6, 6:30 PM — 8 PM
Sohier Room, Main Library  
Briscoe Middle School and Beverly High School will host an art display that brings the summer reading experiences of Beverly teens to life. The students read a wide range of books, from the classic The Grapes of Wrath to the thrilling Monument 14 to the engaging tale of Gracefully Grayson, and produced creative responses to the books they read, including short films, songs, and more. Come celebrate and enjoy some light refreshments! Patrons of all ages are welcome. See our other October events on the Teens Page
Intro to 3D Printing
 
Thursday, November 3
6:30 - 8:30 PM
Sohier Room, Main Library
Registration required. Learn the basics of working with the library's MakerBot 3D printer, and simple download and design using free design software. The workshop is required if you wish to use the 3D printer independently. Additional details here. Questions? Contact Patrcia Cirone for more info.
