NEWS & UPDATES
Meet Your New CEO By Brigitte Scott From the little red sit-upon to CEO, Anne Soots brings 46 years of Girl Scout passion and 30 years of Girl Scout staff experience to lead Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland. Her position will take effect August 1.
Anne began her involvement with Girl Scouts in a Brownie troop led by Mrs. Gibbs. "My fondest memories as a girl centered around our troop leader, Mrs. Gibbs, and how special she always made us feel. Our troop did a lot of camping and she was always ready for the next adventure," she remarked. Anne graduated from High Point University in North Carolina with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Relations. She also has certifications in Nonprofit Management from both Mandel School of Management-Case Western Reserve University and University of Missouri at St. Louis. She began her professional Girl Scout career in 1981 as a Field Director in Pee Dee Area Girl Scout Council in South Carolina. Since that time, Anne has held many positions within the Girl Scout organization such as Communications Director, Fund Development Director, Resident Camp Director, Adult Development Director, Assistant CEO, COO and CEO. Anne said she is looking forward to having the opportunity to build a partnership with all Girl Scout stakeholders - volunteers, parents, staff, donors, community members - that will allow GSMH to provide an extraordinary leadership experience for girls. "I want to meet with volunteers across our council to talk about what is important to them and how we can work together to support Girl Scouting," she noted. "I want to create an environment where our community and business leaders understand what Girl Scouting is all about and make funding Girl Scouting a priority." Anne enjoys gardening, reading and supporting New York Yankee baseball and Washington Redskins football. Additionally, she has two very spoiled cats - Little Bit and Yankee.! |
