Meet Chiefs, enjoy free ball game
Families invited to see CenterState Legends face off against the Syracuse Chiefs on June 17 at the
Wiffle Ball Spring Classic on the MOST's east lawn

Pack up some folding chairs and bring the whole family downtown at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, for the most epic game of wiffle ball Central New York has ever seen! Claim your spot on the east lawn of the Museum of Science & Technology in Syracuse's Armory Square and watch for free as the CenterState Legends take on the Syracuse Chiefs.

"This game is backyard ball at its best and I am really excited about this opportunity to take on the Chiefs and support the MOST," said Robert Simpson, president of CenterState CEO. "We have an incredible team of community and business leaders playing for the CenterState Legends and I am confident we will give the Chiefs some real competition. I strongly encourage the community to come cheer us on during this fun family event."

"The Chiefs are excited to engage our downtown community, said Chiefs General Manager Jason Smorol. "Getting an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for the MOST as well as beating Rob Simpson's CEO Centerstate Legends is a double play! We don't often get the opportunity to get the players out in the community as they play every day, so we are excited to have some fun, meet some fans, and put the spotlight on the MOST."

Syracuse Chiefs players scheduled to appear are Bruce Billings, Erik Davis, Jeff Howell, Mitch Lively and Scott McGregor. They will be led by Chiefs President Bill Dutch.

In addition to the game, the event will have activities that appeal to everyone! Scooch, the Syracuse Chiefs' mascot will be there to provide entertainment and to pose with for pictures, so be sure to bring your cameras. There will also be a raffle of Chiefs memorabilia and additional items. And since baseball and food go hand-in-hand, food vendors will be stationed nearby, too. In case of rain, the game will be moved inside the MOST.

"We appreciate CenterState CEO, the Syracuse Chiefs, and all the local business people coming together to help the MOST," said MOST President Larry Leatherman. "It will be a fun family event and a chance to see the Chiefs up close. We hope this becomes an annual rite of spring."

Proceeds from the event will benefit the MOST's science education programs, and we are offering additional contribution opportunities. Want a great view? Secure one of four luxury boxes overlooking the game. Do you know someone 15 or younger who'd like to be a batboy or batgirl? We're auctioning off two spots in advance of the event. Contact Tony Ortega at (315) 425-9068 x2120 or [email protected] for a full list of opportunities.

And to continue the fun of the night, the MOST will be open after the game until 9 p.m. at a very special price: $10 for families of four or more people, or $5 for smaller families.

So get your family out of the house to enjoy some free baseball, and support the Chiefs and the MOST, by joining us for this inaugural summer classic!
