Meet the New Israel Air Force Commander

Dear Friends,

Major General Amikam Norkin is the new Israel Air Force Commander as of August  14 2017.

General Norkin was born in Moshav Beit She'arim in the Jezreel Valley, he is married to Aviva and the father of three daughters. He is a graduate of the National Security College and holds a Master's degree in Social Sciences from the University of Haifa.

Maj. Gen. Norkin began his military career in 1985 when he was accepted to the IAF Flight Academy. He graduated as a fighter pilot at the top of his class  with distinction. At the age of 21 he was the youngest F-15 pilot in the world. Over the years, Major General Norkin advanced in rank and in 2003 he was chosen to form the first IAF F-16I Squadron.

Until recently, Major General Norkin, served as Head of the IDF Planning Directorate and was responsible for the strategic planning missions, the IDF's military force building, and the IDF's Military and Foreign Policy Organization.

Please join us in thanking  Major General Amir Eshel, the outgoing Commander who has been instrumental in solidifying the partnership between the IAF Center and the IAF. We wish him success in his future career, as without a doubt, General Eshel will continue to serve the State of Israel.

One of the first statements General Norkin expressed is his great belief in the unparalleled educational work at the IAF Center and the investment in Israel's future leaders.

Please consider making a special donation to support our Youth Leadership program in honor of both General Eshel and General Norkin.
