What Does “Home” Mean?
Definitions found in the dictionary refer to a place of residence or dwelling
where one lives, such as a house or apartment. For many of us, home is more than a physical structure. We asked some of the families served by our partnership the same question, “What does home mean to you?”
Following are a few of their responses:
“What home means to me is comfort. It means security and stability, a safe and warm place for us to always come to and find peace and happiness.”
“Home is a safe and warm place to call our own - a place to sleep, eat, shower and spend quality time with my children and family, smiling, watching movies and telling each other great stories and making wonderful memories.”
“Home is where your heart is - and hearts are with each other.”
“Home means loving, caring, and fond memories, family time, hard times and good times. Home is how good you make it. I love home. It’s a safe place for me and my family.”
“Home is a secure and safe place. There is peace of mind, relaxation, good-
loving and cooking. Home is family entertainment, holidays, love, happiness and clean.”
